I said at least a few times here Boyle would have been perfect here. 4th line center with leadership, kills penalties, can still pot close to 10 goals , and would be very tradeable come deadline

Haley or McKegg?

Or Smith at forward considering the only reason he's in the lineup is the fact he kills penalties — something Boyle excels at.

Plenty of scrubs already on this team, dont need another one. Plus Boyle is a center, he’d have to push either Andersson or Howden out. Knowing Quinn it would be Andersson sitting in the press box. Im not okay with that

We have plenty of penalty killers. I’d rather have howden and Andersson learning the PK than playing a soon to be a retiree

Smith kills penalties as a defenseman

Fair, but he plays ES at forward. He was even a third-liner for a night. Far from ideal.

We have too many of these types of players. “Replacing” another player we already don’t need ... hence the there’s no need for him.

Smith is killing penalties on defense though, not forward.

I think the point was this. We are thin at center and we also currently have a shitty defenseman killing penalties at fwd. we also have two unwanted nhl players making the roster. Boyle would have slotted nicely as the 4c and pk guy. Kill two birds with one stone. Keep Anderson, Strome, and Howden as 2 and 3 c depending on who has earned it and leave them out of any 4th line roles because we literally would have had the poster boy 4th line center for cheap.

Just a small opportunity missed that actually would have made sense and been a great fit.
