LONG LONG LONG TIME FAN
Lundqvist hopes Rangers will keep Zuccarello 'for many reasons' All-Star goalie knows 'it's a business' if longtime teammate is traded SAN JOSE -- Henrik Lundqvist knows there will be more roster turnover around him during the ongoing rebuild of the New York Rangers. But when it comes to right wing Mats Zuccarello, a potential unrestricted free agent, Lundqvist hopes his longtime teammate will remain with the Rangers past the 2019 NHL Trade Deadline on Feb. 25. https://www.nhl.com/news/henrik-lundqvist-hoping-new-york-holds-onto-mats-zuccarello/c-304240362
LONG LONG LONG TIME FAN
Not every player needs to have blazing speed and the reason Zuccarello will be traded is certainly not because he's slow. He'll be traded because he has trade value. Rangers will likely get a 1st round pick for him, and that's what they covet right now. Another draft with a high 1st and two lower tier 1sts will dramatically increase the skill level in the system. The more players they can pile in the cupboards, the better, because it's really just a game of numbers: the more picks you have, the better chance you have at drafting an NHL player. So while Zuccarello might not be fast or whatever the knock is about him, that's not the reason he's being traded. Inside info or speculation?
