Phil Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 https://youtu.be/asX53aeBPJE Premieres tonight. Anyone checking it out? Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
paddynyc Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 Yes I watched the first episode last night and I'm intrigued and I like Amy Adams as an actress.
Phil Posted July 9, 2018 Author Posted July 9, 2018 Yeah, I'm intrigued. I love the flash back/forward sequencing. The discovery of the little girls body was raw as hell, too. This feels like another hit in the making. Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk

Pete Posted July 11, 2018 Posted July 11, 2018 Oh, shit. I didn't even think of that! I have to go back and check again, but Amy Adams looked shook daddy when she saw it.
Phil Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 Really digging this. Like Mr. Smith just said in our group chat, "it's got True Detective vibes." Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk

High and Wide Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Is the dollhouse the same house from the flashbacks? I thought the dollhouse was their house. Is there another house I'm missing? Also, I love how this show invokes supernatural elements without giving any evidence that those elements actually exist outside Camille's brain.
Phil Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 Damn, what a show! Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
Guest Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Eh, I was only so-so on it. Entertaining, but a lot of the confusing elements seemed like trickery more so than developing the plot. Even the post-credit scene obfuscated a key fact that you had to rewatch over and over and pause to be sure about (who else was involved in the murders). The other issue I had was that most of the main and supporting characters were all competing in a "fucked up" Olympics. They're all really damaged people, but who's the most fucked up? So in that sense, it seemed almost soap opera-esque. That's a lot of key complaints, but at the same time, Amy Adam's character was wonderfully complex, as was her mother, stepfather, along with her halfsister. I think ultimately, had they toned down the "everyone's severely damaged" but kept their family the same as they did, it could have had more contrast which would have played out more believeably. I read one take that it wanted to be True Detective, but it ended up being True Detective 2. I would agree with that.

Guest Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Agree but not nearly as bad as TD2. Yeah, that's probably fair. I enjoyed the show, but it's a tier down from the best of HBO was more my point.
Phil Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 I thought it was really well done. It was a long, slow burn. The pace might have been a little slow, but I thought the payoff was fantastic. I also loved TD2, so ?\_(ツ)_/?
paddynyc Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Really good ending and I see TD3 is coming in January with Mahershala Ali. TD1 was so good it is a tough act to follow.
