Sod16
Given that we are going to be trading some rental UFAs at the deadline, there has been talk of one or more re-signing with the Rangers in July (I can't see even fans most committed to a clean slate youth movement objecting to resigning Grabner, for example). Off the top of my head, I can't think of any UFAs dealt at the deadline who came back and signed with their former team. I suppose even if the relationship was good and the player had a house there etc., once you cut the cord, both sides seem to move on. When Mike Richter was a UFA, Nashville took him in the expansion draft, because they knew that when the Rangers re-signed him which would give Nashville a compensatory draft pick under the rules then existing. That's a different situation, and Mike never played for Nashville and the whole arrangement, including the re-signing, was pre-ordained.

Phil
It's a rarity. I was doing research for a CFC article a few weeks ago with the hypothesis in mind that it occurred more often than I thought. It just doesn't happen often enough to lend towards any kind of meaningful trend.
