I'm not sure they had much choice in the matter. He's too important to let go. I guess they just have to hope like hell that he declines gracefully, or as gracefully as he can.

This sets the bar for McDonagh. He has two years left on his deal, and can sign an extension in 365 days.

And he'll probably end up getting 7 or 8 years. He'll be 30 when that kicks in. Honestly I'm fine with going a tad bit higher in salary if we can get him to sign for 5 years.
