When the bottom ring is filled up the top one(oldest) is removed, a blank one is placed at the bottom and each ring is then moved up. The ring which was just removed is then cut, flattened out, and placed in the Stanley Cup vault in the trophy room at the HOF. And yes, there are 3 Stanley Cups. The original, which stays on display in the vault, The Cup that is awarded to the Champions, and a 3rd that stays on display at the HOF. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I took a bunch of pictures of NYR and USA related stuff when I was there in 2012. I could post some up if you'd like. I don't want to ruin any surprises for you though.
