Kurt Sutter's ?The Bastard Executioner? to Begin Filming in March

Set to begin filming his new show ?The Bastard Executioner? in March, ?Sons of Anarchy? series creator Kurt Sutter will be in Wales after wrapping up his FX biker drama show. The controversial showrunner is set to team up with SOA director and executive producer Paris Barclay and SOA actress Katey Sagal, Sutter?s wife in real life.

 

The new FX period drama project is set in the 14th century and it tells the story of a warrior knight who vows not to use his sword again. Fighting under the charge of King Edward III, the knight was forced to go back to his violent ways and pick up the bloodiest sword of all.

 

?Kurt Sutter is scouting for recording locations for The Bastard Executioner in Wales, UK,? according to ?The Bastard Executioner? (#TBX) official website. ?One site in particular got some attention, the Caerphilly Castle, in South Wales after Kurt posted a few Instagram pictures.?

 

The castle is known as the medieval fortification in Caerphilly constructed by Gilbert de Clare in the 13th century. Surrounded by extensive artificial lakes, the fort endured several big battles and was considered ?the most elaborate water defences in all Britain.?

 

The ?Southpaw? writer announced recently on Twitter that the draft of the script (pilot) was sent to FX studio executives and was a big hit. Now he is moving on to the next phase of making his new series a reality by scouting the show?s location and started casting for the show?s cast.

 

Known for her role as SAMCRO?s matriarch, Sagal is set to join her husband in Wales for their new venture together. The actress confirmed her reunion with Sutter in December but did not go in details about her role in the upcoming series.

As a huge Sutter mark, I'm pumped for this, even though it's well outside the genre he's worked in the last number of years through The Shield and Sons of Anarchy.

Kurt Sutter?s follow-up drama to mega hit Sons Of Anarchy is officially a go at FX. The cable network has picked up Sutter?s gritty Late Middle Ages drama pilot The Bastard Executioner to series with a 10-episode order.

 

A period drama, The Bastard Executioner tells the story of a warrior knight (Lee Jones) in King Edward I?s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.

Not much to really go on from that trailer. Looks decent though.

The first episode was very violent. I'm not quite sure what I think of this yet. There is definitely some stuff that is sickening that goes on in this show.
