  1. Feed finally started working. Mashinter hammers home a rebound to make it 3-1 Whale. Assists to Segal and Yogan. Good work in front of the net.
  2. Ok now a scoring change makes it Ferriero's goal from Kreider and McIlrath. I'm assuming he must have tipped it in. Pyett has since given the Whale the lead from Segal and Newbury. 2-1 after 1.
  3. Finally sitting down to watch another Whale game and the stream is broken. This sucks. Kreider just tied the game at 1 off of a primary assist from McIlrath. Ferriero with the other helper. If they get video up later I'll describe it.
  4. His shot alone will get him a look at some point. It would look really good on our PP. It's the type of shot that many fans have been clamoring for for years.
  5. He's huge and strong as hell. He's fought some really big, tough guys already. I don't think anyone is gonna knock him out, but if he loses a fight he'll take it as a learning experience. He has a great personality and I don't think he's ever going to become timid.
  6. Yeah, Toffoli and Thomas were going back and forth for a while just taking the puck and trying to snipe. Both very impressive.
  7. Whale win it 3-2. Great comeback win. 5 game win streak now, including three wins in the last three days. Same players as usual were impressive. Mashinter, Thomas, Newbury, and Haley. Segal was also very good in this one and by the 3rd had replaced Palmieri on the top line with Newbury and Mashinter. Thomas likes to go for the Rick Nash type one on one moves, and he manages to pull them off at a pretty good rate, he just didn't finish. One play he dangled through two guys and got through but the goalie poked it away. On another he made a nice power move and lowered his shoulder to drive a defender to the net. Almost finished it, but the goalie made the save. Nice to see a big power move from such a small guy. Like that mentality. The Whale got more great goaltending, this time from Missiaen. Steady defensive play outside of a few shaky moments, however Vernace never returned from his injury so that could be a big blow going forward if it's serious. Luckily they had Pyett in at forward so he just switched back to D after Vernace left. It seems that Mashinter should be called up soon. He is excelling at everything and his skating is better than I ever thought. Perhaps they want him to remain in this environment for a while in order to let his new strides really set in. That would be the only explanation for keeping him down.
  8. Moments later Mashinter buries one with a nice wrister to give the Whale a 3-2 lead. Again from Segal.
  9. LOL Eminger with a sick play to tie the game with 2:43 to play. Eminger banks it off the boards in the neutral zone past two defenders, goes around them and knocks the puck over to Segal and into the zone for a 2 on 1. Segal send it back for Eminger to tap home in front. Really pretty.
  10. Vernace loses an edge and goes awkwardly into the boards. Limps off to the locker room.
  11. Toffoli rips a shot past Missiaen to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead. Nobody really at fault because it was just a good shot, but he was Eminger's man on the play. Missiaen has been playing very well. End of two. Gernander has mixed the lines up a bit to try to find some offense. He's split up Newbury and Mashinter in an attempt to get other guys going.
  12. Great diving play by McIlrath as he's the only man back against a 2 on 1. Breaks it up.
  13. Yeah for sure. This team has no shortage of guys who are willing to fight for their teammates.
  14. Whale break out on a 3 on 2 odd man rush. Haley with with a really nice feed over to Thomas who picks the corner with a sweet wrister. Tied 1-1 mid 2nd period.
  15. Anthony Stewart boards Vernace. McIlrath jumps in and drops the gloves with Stewart and beats him into submission. Whale PP after the boarding call.
  16. Whale go on the PP, but fail to score. PP looked good though. Thomas is utilized really well on the point and he's definitely not afraid to let it rip.
  17. Thomas takes a hooking penalty. Eminger loses a puck battle that he probably should have won and Manchester scores on the PP, 1-0.
  18. Whale win in OT in OT with 3 on 3 hockey after matching minors. Segal buries it into what was basically open net. Mashinter was without question the best player on the ice for us in this one, with Newbury a close 2nd. Mashinter got an assist on the first goal that was added in later. He and Newbury are our top two forwards and were the top forward pairing out there when OT started. Palmieri plays on their line, but is not nearly as visible and seems to make little impact. Thomas was ok in this one, but nothing like last night. Vernace and McIlrath were both very good, but despite the low score the rest of the D was inconsistent. Eminger was not very good at all, had giveaways and lapses all night, but some nice offensive rushes as well. Yogan took multiple dumb penalties. Still, good win and a hard fought game. Talbot was very good.
  19. Norfolk makes an outlet pass McIlrath steps up to the redline and levels him for a beautiful hit. Then some guys challenges McIlrath, they fight. McIlrath land more punches, other guy gets the takedown. No penalty on the hit, perfectly clean.
  20. Guy hits Vernace with a bad elbow. Haley precedes to remove his own helmet, grab the guy and remove his helmet, and then beat the shit out of him. Fans love it, have signs for Haley all over the arena. 17 PIM for Haley on it.
  21. Watching this now, don't know the final, so it's new to me. After 1 period, both goalies have been outstanding, but Talbot had one lapse and let in a bad angle goal. Mashinter and Newbury have looked very good again. The second line has shown some solid play. Christian Thomas looks very good again. He's been playing the point on the PP to utilize his cannon. It would be tough to say that there is much of a difference from his slapper and one-timer and Stamkos's when watching it, the shot is hard to believe. Whoever is coaching the Whale PP should be brought up to coach the Rangers PP. Great movement and possession. Whale tied it late in the period with Logan Pyett hammering one home off a beautiful feed from Vernace. Pyett has recently been playing forward rather than D. In the games I watched, Vernace has been really impressive. He's a bit of a journeyman at 26 but this is the best he's ever produced in the AHL. He's also playing top pairing with huge minutes. He may have a future in the NHL somewhere. McIlrath is just fun to watch. Two massive hits in the period that left guys struggling to get up. He's challenging forwards at the blueline entering the zone and he's also made some nice aggressive plays to pinch in on offense to keep plays alive and pucks in the zone.
  22. Going out now. Will watch later tonight and update details then. Will probably be quite late so check in the morning if you care.
  23. That's fine with me. Just wanted to make sure it's cool with everyone.
