Things were definitely a bit miss-timed there. Now they do have some assets they could deal for a center, so we'll see.

Detroit had a 20 year period or whatever where they were really good, if not great, and won several championships. Screw them. lol

They certainly have the potential to be Stanley Cup contenders for a longer period of time than they were in the Lundqvist Era. Yeah, they still had mostly pretty good teams with him, but they weren't really Cup contenders every year. There were some teams he and the defense had to carry because they weren't necessarily strong offensive teams, mostly when Tortorella was coaching. How things are shaping up now, they have the potential to be very strong in all facets going forward for quite some time. Be excited.

This is surreal. Two years in a row of pure luck for this franchise? It's never happened. This will be their first overall pick since 1965.

Perhaps they move up a bit with a package involving Buch, DeAngelo, etc., plus their other first to get a crack at a really good center? With this lottery win, they have more assets. There's even less a chance guys like ADA, Buch and Strome come back.

Panarin's playoff performances in the past definitely have left a lot to be desired. Just ask Blue Jackets and Blackhawks fans.

Damn, that came out of nowhere. lol $15 million is nothing to The Rock. The XFL actually wasn't that bad, really. It's just a tough break with COVID absolutely killing its momentum (and a lot of other things too). Hopefully it sees the light of day again soon.

Basically what you said. With JD and Gorton at the helm, this is probably the best their front office has been in ages. I really liked watching Kakko in the postseason games. I don't know if he'll be elite talent, but something is there, and you saw it here more than ever. I think those few months off did wonders for his body after playing a lot of hockey the past year-plus. Shesterkin emerging was very Lundqvist 2005 and the Rangers are very fortunate to be able to transition right away into someone who likes he can carry this team hopefully just as long as Henrik did. Having a great chance at the first overall pick is a huge plus, and I think getting another first rounder for Skjei, someone who's days were numbered anyway, was a boon as well. I know it won't really be a high pick, but still. Having two offensive players like Zibanejad and Panarin together is something this franchise has sorely lacked since Jagr. Watching Zibanejad continue to grow and mature was really fun to watch this year. Oh, and so was Panarin. My favorite moments were the comeback in Montreal (a confidence changer) the Islanders game where Zibanejad had that laser shot overtime goal, and his five-goal performance against Washington.

The rebuild is just beginning, let alone not being over. I still like the direction they're headed, but this was just a huge mismatch. I'm hoping this series helps Rangers' management perhaps think twice about giving paydays and long-term contracts to some of these guys. Unless Hank actually announces his retirement, or wants to get moved elsewhere, I still think he's the backup next year and they trade Georgiev. I guess the best part of this is that they have a %12.5 chance of getting the number one overall pick. Going on, you thought that it would be nice to also get some playoff experience for some of these players, but it looks to me like they got nothing out of it, really.

He and Panarin are a one-two punch the Rangers have needed for a loooong time.

He just keeps getting better and better and it's fun to watch. I know playing with Panarin certainly helps, but it was just insane production and he missed 13 games! Watching Panarin just being able to find him and connect all the time was magical.

The Marlins season is officially on hold as a few more have tested positive. In the meantime, they will be looking for players who test negative to be able to play for them. The Yankees game against the Phillies tonight has been postponed.
