  1. Maybe he really wants it this time.

I don’t think JD & Gorton would stand in his way if his heart is set on it.

I don't think so either. He's probably as good as gone now if he really wants to be a GM.

Start looking at the FLA roster, because if Drury becomes their GM, Gorton will be trading with him, just like Don Maloney and Slats. No need to worry if Drury is high on Howden, because considering how high Stevie Y. is on him, we can always unload him on Detroit, right?

They will become the next Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Coyotes. lol

  2. The Sens aren't competing for the playoffs/Cup next season. The following offseason is going to be filled with starting goalie options. Andersen, Rask, Rinne, Binnington, Allen, Dubnyk, Raanta, Grubauer, Mrazek and Halak are all potentially available. How many are gonna end up re-signing between now and then? Certainly not all of them. They can get a goalie then, if they really want.

I think next year's offseason is going to be super interesting and fun, especially from a Rangers' point of view with all the cap coming off the books.

  3. 1965 was pre-universal draft. The only players available were those not on the protected lists of the junior teams sponsored by the six NHL teams. Most of the drafted players never made it to the NHL (like the Rangers No. 1 pick in 1965). The real draft started in 1969, and before last year, we had never picked higher than 4th.

In 1966, we got Brad Park because Toronto left him off the Marlboros list due to him being then undersized and an incident at a Marlboros' game where Brad's mother dissed Punch Implach's son, Brent. In a universal draft, Park would have been a 6th or 7th rounder. In a modern universal draft, the Rangers never would have picked Park. They would have had the No. 1 pick in 1966 as a result of having finished last in 65-66 and would have picked... Bobby Orr.

Oh, man! That's interesting stuff, though.

  4. Only 3 reasonably expectable ways this situation resolves itself.

    1) Trade Georgiev

    2) Buy out Hank

    3) Hank retires

    That’s basically it.

Its hard to see Hank retiring and leaving $4.5 million on the table, especially when he clearly feels like he can still play and contribute.

A buyout is really difficult to see with him too, given what he’s meant to the franchise.

Pretty much. He's not that nice of a guy to leave that much money on the table. lol I don't really see him being bought out, either, even though it's just one year. I think JD wants to keep everything on good terms with him, he knows what Hank means to this organization. Like I said before, I just think Georgiev gets dealt at Draft time. This team still has needs and he's someone you can deal to help get you some. It's not a huge deal having Henrik around for another year, helping Shesterkin. He's going to play 60+ games anyway. I don't think Henrik's 20 starts or whatever is going to kill the team. It's not like they absolutely have to make the playoffs next year. They still very well could, but I look at it as another transitional year.
