  1. Can you get her a thoughtless gift card? or how about cold hard cash?
  2. Tough customer. How about a gigantic empty box with a lovely note inside saying, "It's the thought that counts" with a picture of a sports car above it?
  3. Something nice...hmmm....a box of gourmet Godiva chocolate.
  4. Went to PM you my email, but you have exceeded your quota and it wouldn't let me send.

  6. The only time I feel "old" is when I'm at one of my jobs, either coaching or doing after-school programs. Brings back memories of being a kid and how there was no stress or worries of any kind.
  7. You ever make those stuffed mushrooms?

  9. Always terrible when that happens. :( Kid I went to school with OD'd a few months ago (18 or 19 I think). Never met him, but knew of him and saw him walking the halls at my HS. Always thought he was on steroids, and he was. A mix of that and Oxycontin killed him.
  10. Back from the hospital. Stopped by to see her. They still don't know exactly what's wrong with her. *sigh* Side note: one would think that the meals being served a patient who is in with a heart condition would not be scrambled eggs for breakfast, tuna for lunch, and roast beef for dinner. Idiots.
  11. Lindsay, maybe its time you learned how to ride a bike, or make use of public transportation.
  12. Thanks! And I hear ya. Very rarely does someone deserve the fate they ultimately get. Same for your grandparents, I hope they stay healthy. My grandma had open heart surgery 7 years ago I think, which changed her lifestyle around, eating wise. Then, just a few months ago, her heart was giving her trouble, so they put in a pacemaker and everything was fine until now, and when I say fine, I mean PERFECT, spot-on blood pressure and rate, etc. Now this happened, so I really don't know what to make of it, except that in the end, we're all gonna slow down and eventually stop running the race. It's depressing for everyone, and I imagine everyone here and everywhere else has experienced it. It's not fair for anyone.
  13. Yeah, I explained most of it earlier. This is the second time in 3 days. She's there overnight now. They think it's angina in her heart but they really aren't sure. Gotta do more tests. She's 83 now and these visits are coming with more regularity. Her mental state is fine, but physically, man, she's deteriorating. It's hard to watch. I'm standing there looking at her, and my uncle who limps from a bad knee and I'm like, "Gee, this is what I have to look forward too, huh?"
  14. Back home after nearly 4 hours in the ER. They're admitting her tonight. They think it's some type of angina in her heart, but they aren't sure. Lovely. One positive did come out of this. My mom and uncle who haven't talked in years were sitting around like best friends. Maybe everyone will be back to spending the holidays together again. Was really nice to finally have a conversation with him after like 2 years or so.
  15. Thanks man. This is not the first time she has had one, and it runs in the family. But the additional pains is what bothers me. Didn't know antibiotics could cause them. Oh well, I'll keep you posted. Funny thing is, my mom and my uncle got into a fight several years ago, and the only time the entire family is together is when my grandma is in the hospital. Saw him for the first time in years Saturday. Families sure are great that way. EDIT: Yes, you should sue. No rush though. I think the statute on medical lawsuits is like 8 years or so, at least in NJ.
  16. That will change, grasshopper, that will change. Senior year of high school, I was shaving once a week, maybe less. But when college began, it's 2-3 times a week now. Funny how that happened. That said, I guess I missed the boat on being one of those guys that has to shave daily.
  17. Very sorry to hear that. You have my condolences. I saw it on your FB but never got a chance to say something. I'm actually on my way to the hospital in a few minutes. My grandma went in Saturday, got diagnosed with a urinary tract infection, but the medicine gave her chest pains and she refused to see a doctor yesterday. Now she's back in the emergency room with those same pains and more in her back. I hope it's just bad gas caused by the pills and not another heart attack.
  18. Hmmm that sucks then. Maybe a dermatologist is your best bet then, and if they ever find a lotion that works for you, please let me know.
  19. I always shaved down too, but then someone said, "Oh, no no! You have to shave up!" so I tried up, and let me tell you, it's been much better. But every once in a while I'll forget, then I feel it. Next time you save, try going up with the razor, just very carefully. Shaving is not like slicing steak, you can't go against the grain.
