  1. Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul failed the first time and now are among the strongest franchises.  St. Louis and Pittsburgh were in dire straights and near moving at various points.  There's nothing innate about Atlanta that would make it a bad market where teams seem to do fine in Nashville, Raleigh, Dallas and Tampa.  The Flames experience 40-50 years ago is irrelevent (although I note they outdrew the Atlanta Hawks).  A poorly managed team that makes the the playoffs once in 12 years is a recipe for failure.  The Thrashers gate was typically not that bad, as various teams were worse.

All that said, stop at 32, please.

    What makes you say this?

Players who do not fulfill their initial promise are often moved under the theory that they would be better off getting a fresh start somewhere else.  Being so highly touted will always hang over Kakko's head here.  There won't be so much high draft pick baggage attached to him with a new team, which may make acceptance of a lesser role easier for that teams fans and management and the player himself.

  3. Kakko's value is so low at the moment that I would prefer to just keep him and try to develop him as a good third line player.  Of course, the environment on the team that drafted him second overall is probably not conducive to developing him into something far less than was expected.  For that reason, sooner or later he will get dumped for very little and probably will become a passable player elsewhere.

Mormons are a dangerous fundamentalist religious group. And many of there members still practice polygamy and child marriage, and that’s not just people outside the community of LDS as they’d like you to believe. It’s a very common thing and it occurs with prominent members of that Church.

But I’ll acknowledge it was a bit insensitive.

Im just no fan of fundamentalists. I worked for Scientologists for many years.

I don't know the basis for your statement that it's "not just people outside the community of LDS as they'd like you to believe."  You have Muslim extremists, who may even represent a larger faction than polygamists among Mormons, committing terrorist acts.  So on that basis are you prepared inveigh against Muslims they way you did Mormons?  I'm non-PC and non-woke, but it amazes me how certain groups, like Mormons and poor rural white folks are deemed by some to be subject to disparagement that people wouldn't dare direct at most groups.

  5. Extending him this summer seems out of the question.  It would mean a commitment that would run NINE years into the future after what, even if he has a good finish, would be an uneven season.  Moody as Sheshty is, I hope he doesn't get annoyed with the Rangers if they take their time evaluating him during next season.

One exception to all of this might be if Sheshty were willing to take somewhat reduced term and money this summer, given that he's not coming off a good year.  Not that likely, but possible.
