  2. Darren Dreger on NHL on NBC when asked how serious should we be taking the Aleksander Barkov trade speculation.

“It’s hard to say at this point. What I know is that Bill Zito and the Florida Panthers believe they have time. That this isn’t a bridge they have to cross now. I know that Bill Zito spoke to the representative of Sasha Barkov and said, ‘look, we’re not interested in trading him.’

In fact, Barkov has a no-move clause for this season, then he got a 12-team no-trade list for next season. But the reality of this situation is, Barkov wants to win, and he wants to make sure that the Florida Panthers are on that road to get to that point of being a contending team. Who doesn’t want that? Zito wants that. Joel Quenneville wants that. The players in Florida want that.

So if that is the direction that the Florida Panthers are headed, when it comes time to negotiate a contract extension, then Barkov most definitely is willing to listen. But in the meantime, amid all the speculation Liam, you know that there are lots of NHL general managers who are eager to pick up the phone to make sure that Zito knows that they’re interested if he ever gets to that place where Barkov is seriously in play.”

    That's from 1/21/21

  3. If not Lindholm then I would look at Carolina’s Vinny Trocheck, he’s cap hit is 4.75 mil for next year but his actual salary is 6.25 mil. and Carolina is one of those cash strapped teams so I would think we could get him at a slight discount because of it. Trocheck has 38 puts in 37 gms, 83 hits & a 55% face-off win percentage.

The second guy I would sign Barclays Goodrow to be our 4th line center, he’s physical, has a 52% face-off win percentage and plays on the PK. Him or Sean Kuraly who is also physical and has a 50% face-off win percentage.

The 3rd would be Nick Foligno because of physicality and veteran leadership

    With:Lafraniere-Zibenajad-Buchnevich,

    Panarin-Strome-Kreider,

    Foligno-Trocheck-Kravtsov,

    Blackwell-Goodrow-Gauthier

    Fox-Lindgren

    Miller-Trouba

Any combination of Smith, Reunanen, Robertson, Jones, Schneider

Not to sure what the cap will be because Foligno, Goodrow, Smith are UFA and Buchnevich, Lindgren & Gauthier are RFA.

Are you saying to trade Chytil, Kakko & Lundkvist for Trocheck?

Seems a bit much to me.

  4. I'll be at Happy Hour, so here you go Phil....

    Take mine before I "P.W.I".

This is my opinion, and I drink a lot...so go easy on me

Chytil is a guy I think we could move

Kreider is a good 3rd line player, the only problem is that he's signed as a top 6 guy for an eternity.

Kravvy should be in Kreider's spot

Rooney gave us a good season, but I think we can do better...and bigger.

    Howden is out...plain and simple

    Di Giuseppe is out

Bitetto was a nice story, but there's no room at the Inn for him

Hajek I think will be supplanted quickly

I also think we should try to move Georgiev...It won't happen but he's not needed...I'd rather have Kinkaid

That's my version of trimming the tree branches....

Rooney would be ok for 4th line center.

They definitely need a 3rd line center that can win a faceoff, kill penalties and score a little bit.

Biggest problem on the team is they have 8 forwards (9 if you count Chytil) vying for top 6 forward spots.

  5. Going into the final two against the Bruins 4 down doesn't seem like that tall of an order, given that we are currently 4 down with Boston having two at hand. We hold the tie breakers, so a pair of OT or SO wins over the Bruins would then put us in.

After 2010, we'd be owed one under those circumstances!

If the Rangers are down 4 points going into the last 2 games they have to win both games in regulation to make the playoffs.

Boston would get a point for going to overtime.
