5 years for me includes this year. We're in year 2 as of today. They have 5 months to evaluate now, shed some more at draft, make a fuck tonne of picks, but them we have to start heading the other way.

 

Tearing down over THREE deadlines is terribly inefficient in my view.

 

Sure, the tear-down is done. But then comes a year (or two) of bottoming out. That's important to remember. The Rangers need to draft higher than 7th and 9th and hopefully they will in 2019 and 2020.

 

But no UFA's will be kept past the deadline unless the Rangers are confident that they will re-sign. So if Kreider hasn't signed an extension by february next year, he will surely be on the market. The same goes for Namestnikov, Fast and Vesey.

I've always been fascinated by that team. "Traktor". How can you not love that name? That's so cold, heavy and Russian to name a team after the big-ass factory where the entire city worked.

Very exciting and surely this is a positive sign?

 

You don't throw a fringe prospect into the AHL "a year early", so clearly we believe in Day and are pleased with his development.
