ThirtyONE
I forgot about that. Does that mean they can beat Carolina, go on into the playoffs and still pick #1 overall?
josh
They own the worse of the Carolina and Toronto picks. So, no. There would need to be two qualifiers in the draft lottery for this scenario to be possible.
Morphinity 2.0
Posted this in the other thread: This isn't the case. The Carolina pick the Rangers have is the lowest of the two Carolina 1st round picks (their own or Toronto's). The second lottery they're doing is only for the first overall pick, and then they will sort losers by points percentage to determine the rest of the draft order. Toronto's pick is top-10 protected, however they can't possibly get a top-10 pick because of points percentage. If Toronto wins the second lottery, Toronto keeps their pick and the Rangers get Carolina's. If Toronto loses the second draft lottery, their points percentage prohibits them from drafting 9th or 10th, and the Rangers get the lower of the two Carolina-owned picks. If Carolina win's the lottery, they keep their pick and the Rangers get the Toronto pick.
Keirik
So can the rangers get the first overall or not outside of their own pick in the first place lol
Morphinity 2.0
Only if they lose the play-in vs. Carolina and win the second lottery (12.6% chance).
Keirik
So they have a 12% chance because of their own pick and if they lose to the Canes they have a second 12% chance?
