Ahti Oksanen Signs One-Year Deal With Wolf Pack

Ahti Oksanen, standout forward from Boston University, appears to have signed a 1-year deal with the Hartford Wolf Pack, according to a Finnish website.

Oksanen played in all 38 games for the Terriers last season, ranking second on the team in goals (15), assists (21), and points (36). After spending his first two seasons at BU as a defenseman, he was converted to a forward in his junior year and played on a line with Jack Eichel. That year, he led Hockey East in goals (16) and power play goals (8), and helped the Terriers make the National Championship game.

If this turns out to be true, it would be a great get for the Rangers' system. Not only is Oksanen a potent middle-6 threat, but signing him to an AHL contract leaves some flexibility for the Rangers in this all-important offseason. Oksanen will definitely be one to keep an eye on in Hartford next season.

To note: If true, Oksanen will only be signed to the Wolf Pack specifically, and will still be considered an NHL free agent. After the 2016-17 season, Oksanen can decide to sign with any team he chooses.
