I actually really liked that they explained what happened to Agent Coulson in reference to The Avengers movie. Especially when Coulson came walking in and saying how the bulb was broken and that's why he was lurking in the shadow. And like I said, the acting was piss-poor. The bulb thing was dumb, everything else was fine IMO. I think the acting was fine except for the interrogation scene, but that had more to do with the writing to me.
