  1. What case? Sansa is 14, so Robb is older that in thought, still not by much and Jon fucking Snow makes tons of stupid mistakes himself.

He's as much the son of Ned Stark, as is Robb. Maybe with a small bit more realism, due to being a Bastard.

Or what are you trying to imply? btw there still is the group where you can say more.

Even people who haven't read the books should know that Jon is the main character by now. Also: Arya is easily the most awesome and badass Stark and she's like 10.

  2. I am not implying I've read them, I am outright saying it and have been saying it since before season 1. lol

But you're relatively new here so it's okay not to know. :D

I don't think they suck and they aren't retarded either.

Robb was just 14 in the books, of course he wasn't a "war hardened bastard", there wasn't a war for him to fight. He also gets thrown into leading the rebellion of the North, he doesn't have a choice in that and I still think he handled himself rather well for a while, but of course he had the faults of his father. Trusting the wrong people (Roose Bolton, Theon Greyjoy) and his cursed honor. Marrying that Westerling girl seemed like the "honorable" thing to do after sleeping with her.

I think Robbs biggest problem was a huge lack of good advise, all those Northern Bannermen were either traitors (Bolton), not very bright (Umber) or too hot headed (Karstark), to be of real help.

He lacked experience and advice against an opponent who had plenty of both and who didn't play by the same rules.

I never really understood all that hate for Catelyn, I understood what she did and why.

There is no real revenge for Ned without his family participating.

edit: btw. how much more of a warrior should Robb have been? He won every single battle in this war. On a tactical level he was brilliant.

I will just say: Jon is the same age as Robb and rest my case due to the spoiler police and my not wanting to cross lines.

  3. See, thats how I expected non-readers to see him. :D

Anyway, I am not even sure if I loved robb that much myself. It was propably more devestating to realize that I won't get my revenge for the death of Ned Stark. :( Though I definitly liked Book-Robb a bit more, propably cause he's a bit younger there and trying so hard to do the right things and to be like his father was. Ultimately ending in him being too much like his father was, repeating his political mistakes.

His whole marriage made a bit more sense there. imo

Robb and Catelyn are supposed to suck, they were the two most retarded characters in the books. Pretty sure the point of Robb as a plot device is to show that he inherited all of the worst parts of Ned- idealism and ignorance, and none of the good qualities- honor, loyalty, and generally being a war hardened badass. It was all a game to Robb in the books, they dramatized it a bit out of context in the show so shrug.

You don't know Ned won't be avenged. If you're implying that you read the books you should remember that karma sort of punches the bad guys in the face throughout Storm of Swords, Robb and Cat not being the only bad guys.

  4. The only real change from the book is that Talisa dies pregnant in the show but in the book Jeyne is left at Riverrun and eventually returned to her family, not pregnant as far as we know.

Not sure where I was talking about deviations from the book. But while we're on that subject, Robb's wife was a completely different character. She's supposed to come from a southerner Westerosi family, not be from Bravos or wherever the show made her from. It's semantics ultimately so shrug.

  5. nah that wouldve been too cheesy and distracting. Theyve done a great job of drilling in the fans' minds what the song means in prior episodes so that there was no need for an explanation of why the band playing it was a bad thing. The way it was done (read: not changing much from the source material) was pretty much perfect

Oh it was totally well done. Not sure if people who watch the show casually and didn't even read the books would get the weight of the song (the melody played in the background) but overall, yea the show is being run well. Just that was the most significant application of the song, throughout the books as of DWD. I wanted it to be front and center.
