Will you be furnishing the house with an indoor rock wall, and what size?

I am not athletic enough to rock climb anything.

    2. why haven’t you answered my Seinfeld question?

    3. Chunky or smooth (peanut butter of course)?

    4. What was your first reaction when you saw your first super mega sized American supermarket?

    5. Do you miss the red light district ?and if not, is it because you found a replacement?

I'd build a speakeasy room with whiskey bar and arcade games.

So, George is right: Holland isn't The Netherlands. Holland are, these days, two provinces (North and South Holland) of the twelve that make up The Netherlands. It's where all the big cities and most people are. The word Dutch stems from the historic word for the language ("Diets"), which has the same origin as the German word for German ("Deutsch"). Even more confusing but of interest to baseball fans: the kingdom of The Netherlands includes several Caribbean islands that have since, some in recent years, become independent from the country, but voted to remain parts of the kingdom. Which is why certain baseball stars from Aruba and Curacao (like Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts) can play for "The Netherlands" in international baseball tournaments.

    Smooth.

The first big big supermarket I walked into was a Walmart in North Carolina and I couldn't get over the fact that they sold ammo.

I do miss Amsterdam in general. Not as much the Red Light District, but there are some fantastic restaurants and bars adjacent to it (I mean, it's touristy and busy as hell and it's right in the historic downtown). It's a good city and it's been over two years since I was back.

Awesome man. Yeah, Grace and I are doing well. Married eight years this spring and pretty excited to own our own home soon. We're all getting old.

How close were the Colorado wild fires from where you live?

What part of Michigan are you moving to?

How will the Netherlands do in the upcoming World Cup?

    Ice fishing? yay or nay?

How will the Rangers do in the playoffs?

Really fucking close to the wildfire. The East Troublesome Fire in 2020 (until last month's Marshall Fire the most devastating fire in Colorado history) was within half a mile from our house. We know at least a dozen families who lost everything. Over 250 houses in my community were nothing but dust after that night. We evacuated down a road with 100ft flames creeping down the hillside towards us. Our street just got really lucky.

I'm moving to the Ann Arbor area. Close to Big Ten sports, close to the Detroit airport and within three hours from Chicago. Not bad at all.

The Netherlands won't go far. Team lacks the top end talent to compete. Depay is no Robben.

Ice fishing isn't for me, but I am an avid fly fisherman in the summer. Already booked a Yellowstone fishing trip for this summer.

Rangers will be lucky to make it out of the first round. Too reliant on the PP.

And what other freakish consumer products are the Dutch responsible for?

I wish I knew, but I've seen them (but they aren't installed anymore). Oh, and black licorice.

    1. What was the more Dutch thing I could have eaten instead of pickled herring?

    2. Why pickled herring, damnit?

    3. Best Rangers memory?

    4. What is the greatest name in the Netherlands history, and why is it Klaas Jan Huntelaar?

We should've had Rice Table, which is a tapas style Dutch-Indonesian thing. Sorry.

Meeting a bunch of the players before a game at Minnesota that we won handily. It was a great weekend to St. Paul when I was on exchange at Wisconsin and guys like Danny G and Cally couldn't have been nicer.

Ha, you may not remember him, but how about Dutch soccer striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. Also, there's a Dutch politician named Tiny Kox.

What's your worst roller coast experience?

Whats a Dutch word that should find its way into English lexicon?

You're trapped inside of a football stadium with a moose. Your choices are to fight it or attempt to tame it. How do you proceed?

Could you fit a hockey puck in your ass for $5 million?

Worst? I've done some wooden rollercoasters that left my rib cage aching and I've been puked on by a child in front of me before. No bueno.

Two words: "gezellig" and "uitwaaien". Gezellig is a word that describes a cosy, friendly setting and describes either a setting or situation as pleasant. Uitwaaien translates into letting the wind blow thoughts out of your head. It's for going outside on a walk to clear your head a bit.

I have seen a person vs. moose encounter in person here in Colorado and they are not to be fought. I would tame it with food and by staying far away otherwise. They're murder horses.

Can I get $10M for two?

    1.  How you liking Gallant?

    2. Do you visit the board often, now that you're back?

    3. What forum member do you remember best, that's still up here?

    4. Current favorite Ranger?

    5. How about sticking around for a while and being one of the gang again??

I think Gallant is fine. He's not the x and o's kinda guy I prefer, but he brought some swagger and confidence to the crew. I just worry he isn't the right guy to develop Laf and Kakko.

I visit the board occasionally and will try to stick around.

Ha, I'm not going to fall into the trap of naming favorites, because I'll never hear the end of that, but I've been around various boards with some of these people for 15+ years and it's just been great to stay in touch about life.

Tough one on the current favorite. It's probably most awesome to see Kreider be who we always wanted him to be.

  5. 1) I've been in Colorado since 2018, but moving to Michigan for family reasons in the next few months. I'm going to miss being in the mountains.

    2) I'm blaming this on Signal.

    3) It would be most unfortunate if we fired Tortorella and replaced him with someone like Vigneault. We'll never get close to a Cup.

    4) Polo is the whitest > Curling > Rowing > Golf > Skiing. Probably.

    5) No. But you could argue that tea is herb stock. Stock isn't soup though.

  6. If Belgium doesn't have as many injuries, they go on and make the final. Their best defensemen were all either out or playing in a different position than with their club teams. Imagine this team, but with Kompany to lead them. Different story.
  7. It was a fantastic episode indeed, although I didn't love that two characters were brought up so quickly again and then offed. I think a big part of this was a set-up for an obvious future battle between the new lord at one place and one returning home in the other, who... have *cough* some history.

Not sure I found the awakening particularly engrossing. It's fine they weren't there, but the ceremony... I mean. What happened? Some words? It was fire, and blood, and craziness. Now burning hair and some words wake someone up? Weird.

  8. My fiance' and I are really having trouble finding a place to have our wedding. We set a budget and all and we sort of have a list of guests but we are unsure of destination or new york wedding.

The concept of a destination wedding is so odd to me. I guess it depends on the amount of guests, but I'd never do destination where literally everyone has to travel for forever to get there.

  9. I went to the NYCFC season opener at Yankee Stadium and had a terrific time. Yeah, the way the field is set up is weird and we sat behind home plate, which is the furthest away from the field, but a terrific family atmosphere and a more diverse crowd than I'm used to in Europe. It was cool.

Also, to see Andrea Pirlo play... :o

  10. Fuck Disney. I'll hold out as long as I can. My wife took our 5 year old last year. I stayed home happily with our 2 1/2 year old. Saved me many headaches and plenty of $$$$$. Places like Dutch Wonderland are fine for now.

I think I'm screwed though once they are 8 and 5. That's an ultimatum my wife will probably give me.

I really love Disney, but there are many amusement parks out there that are much more affordable and offer a similar experience of recognizable characters. There's Sesame Place near you which I hear is great, the other Busch Gardens parks (like the one in Williamsburg) are terrific too, places like Dorney Park and Hersheypark offer large areas for children and water parks for all ages. The boardwalks in Jersey are catering more and more to young families now as well.

If you, or anyone, needs any amusement park advice, hit me up. It's my big passion - yes, yes, you can chuckle - and I've been to close to 200 different parks around the US and Europe. ;)

  11. My roommate is a Sunderland fan and he's already resigned to the fact that they are going down. They go through managers like nothing. Tyne-Wear debry is worthless now.

I do think Sunderland can actually turn it around though. A lot of times there are teams that start out like dogshit and cant get a win but pull it together. At least they show a consistent effort.

But by beating who? Maybe Newcastle, they are in shambles too, but there are very few other clubs looking as bad as them. Perennial relegation fighters like Crystal Palace and Stoke City are stronger teams than Sunderland and several others are similarly outgrowing them. Bottom feeder teams in the Premier League are getting more money by just competing than the Rangers spent on salary, making it tougher for relegated teams and teams in the Championship to come up and stay up. Money in the PL right now is nuts.

  12. Arsenal started the game playing like arse until they got a kick in the butt with that Walcott goal. From then, it looked like a new team. Sanchez with the hat trick, very nice to watch.

Almost thought Chelsea was going to lose that one, too.

Pretty cool record for Alexis. He is the first player ever with a hattrick in the Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League.
