  1. This team isn't capable of providing what you wanted to see. I think they responded the best they could with what they had. At the end of the day, Buch cross checked a guy in the face and a good number of them answered the bell to try and show what no one here thought they were capable of. There was still a hockey game to play and im super proud of this bunch for stepping up. Time to move on though.

    This

  2. Dating back to last season...

    6-3 against Washington

    3-4-2 against Pitt

    2-5-2 against Boston

    5-4-1 against NYI

Question. You use it as a slight against Quinn to say "I’m just not convinced he can coach us to continuous wins against good teams." Is it not a plus in favor of Quinn that they don't continuously lose against good teams?

As all the 1st and 2nd year players get better and more experienced, those records against the teams ahead of us in the division will improve.

This didn’t age well. String of wins against bad teams and lay an egg against the Islanders

  3. Right.

This is the type of whining that makes people who constantly complain about Quinn hard to take seriously. There's whining when he coaches a player, and whining when he says he wants to let a player play his game.

Although he has this team playing great against bad teams, I’m just not convinced he can coach us to continuous wins against good teams. Yes, a win here and a win there but we can’t string three wins in a row against those teams. Our schedule has helped us greatly these last two weeks. Next season we are ready to have an NHL coach step in and take us to the next level. It must happen

  4. Where did he say to gut the team?

How does replacing the coach change how bad Z, Kreider and Trouba have been? Hard to win missing 2/3 of your top line and 1/2 your first pair.

This season looks like a wash. Moving players in the last year of their deals, especially a Buch type, makes tons of sense.

    Buch can go. Too inconsistent

  5. It’s not good thus far... we are at the 1/4 pole and they’re earning less than a point per game in the standings in a VERY GOOD and competitive division.

They’ve been extremely inconsistent, results have been, on a scale of 1-9, a 3 or 4 at best.

The injuries they’ve run into haven’t helped either as they are a young team and the overall depth organizationally is shallow. Regardless of what anybody thinks of Trouba, his minutes at the least will be missed.

If it continues this way, come TDL, you do the obvious and logical thing and move pieces for youth/futures type assets in return, unless there’s a “too good to pass up” hockey trade out there.

Also, if it stays this way, they’ll probably end up with a top-10 pick again.

I’d lean towards moving that pick at this juncture as it doesn’t look to be the greatest of draft classes and they probably end up with a better player in return. Unless there’s a player available to them in the draft that’s too good to pass up that they’re totally in love with, you move the pick.

Though I do think, despite this poor first quarter of the season, they’ll eventually figure it out, provided everyone gets and stays healthy, and hit a stretch wherein they play very well.

But ultimately I think they wind up where they were basically projected to... as a bubble team.

They make it in as a low seed and get bounced early, or they miss the playoffs by a small sum of points.

Wrong, I don’t mind trading a piece or two but to just start gutting this team for the future would be completely stupid. We have talent, we don’t have a coach. We’re not as far off as you think

  6. Not to rain on your parade and I’m beating a dead horse one more time, but “ time to turn things around”??? How so? We have a coach who’s maximized his NHL coaching skills and he is what he is, a 500 coach. So there’s that. We keep him and the season is already over and if we fire him it’s over because who’s out there who’s willing to step in and has the coaching skills to “turn things around”? I hope you’re a fan of baseball because our NHL season is done. Seen this story too many times in my 45 years of being a fan of all sports
  7. A lot of that play will come back once theyre legs get going. Hopefully.

First, they have to get into Quinns style of N-S play, hard on the puck, supporting, etc.

Last year, that started slow with everyone white knuckling their sticks. That wasn't last night. They looked really slow. Really slow. Watching the Rangers last night, then seeing the McDavid goal (2nd goal), I couldnt even keep up with him watching because I was used to watching the Rangers.

Groton should be monitoring new coaches right now for hire for next year

  8. I'm really not in on Quinn. I just don't think he's a very good leader and coach

AGREED. Way too much talent on the team last two years. Never come out firing, always sluggish, shouldn’t be, we have a young team and too much talent at this point. He’s in over his head. Now that we know that, season is a throw away

  9. Guys, long lay off and short camp.

there's going to be crap on both sides, some games we will look awful and some games we will look great.

We're not going to trade KK 24, fire Quinn, kill K'Andre and blow Laffy after one game.

This is basically exhibition, and this season is pointless and only being played so that people don't completely forget that hockey even existed.

    Relax.

You can call it an exhibition this season if you want, but I better see a lot of improvement this year or we need to find a coach to get something out of these guys. I’ll be patient for a while
