Highlights Of My 2013 Italy Trip

More people should share vacation pictures of cool places they've been to. It's a fun topic to get us all through the summer, I think. So open your own threads and share your summer adventures!

A couple weeks ago my mother, my sister and I went to Italy, because this could very well be my last summer in Europe in a long long time and I wanted to bring a (final) visit to some places meaningful to my family. My grandfather is Italian, so we went to see friends and family there and we went to the place where we spread some of my father's ashes after he died a couple years back.

There are some cool things in it. Venice, the Biennale art fair, random Italian things and some pictures of the drive. Descriptions of image are above the pictures.

Good morning Italy! Day 2, 7.30AM, a good 1500ft across the Italian border in a hotel in Resia.

Mussolini had a hydropower plant built here and the lake flooded several towns. Fascination views.

The typewriter, while patented in the US, was invented in Partschins (South Tirol), Italy. They have a museum!

Hey, move over! An odd traffic jam descending from the 6500ft high Passo Rolle high road in the Dolomites.

Once intended as a temporary bridge, the Ponte d'Accademia is now a staple of the canal.

Beautiful man. And I absolutely will hit you up on that offer when the time comes. I definitely trust you'd point me in the right direction.

Side note: no food pics

If Europe is ever your destination, I'll gladly help.

And yeah, no food pics. It always bugs me when people are taking photographs at restaurants and so I usually don't take them myself. Sorry! ;)

The great thing about parts of this region (Veneto) is that restaurants, bars and towns aren't completely overrun by tourists yet. Venice obviously is really touristy and quite expensive, and so are Padova and Verona, but driving into the countryside you can eat spectacular three or four course meals with great wine for maybe $30-35 a person. It's really like paradise for food nuts like you and me, but restaurants quickly become "too fancy" for picture taking.
