They hitched their wagon to Zib with that contract so Kreider is the half of the bromance to send packing to change the dynamic. Let's see who bites. This is fun!!!

Trading Kreider is the first step for a lot of things. The biggest of which might be softening any reluctance Zib has to waiving his trade protection. I wanted this done over the summer, but if it comes early in the season that’s ok too.

I think it's more that once everything blew up and the Rangers knew he wanted to stay for his family, they just accommodated, along with probably a lot of teams not being interested in getting somebody who was going to pout. 

 

Now they could just be saying they don't give a fuck anymore. Will be hard to find a taker though. They should just stash him in Hartford.

Yeah, as I said, the vibes are totally off right now. But they could also use a kick in the pants as well, especially Kreider. If anything, maybe these rumors do that. I don't know. Or, Drury is already prepared to go scorched Earth on some of these guys anyway. God forbid there's some accountability.

If they can, go for it. Basically another Wade Redden type of situation.

At this point, I agree. He’s hurting the team, he’s killing our cap. They wanted to move on this summer. The situation got blown up and became very public and messy.

 

The thing is that the last time the group seemed out of sort, Gallant wore it on the chin. And listen, Gallant was not without his warts. But, the players skated by relatively free off that debacle when some felt that some should have worn that on the chin just like Gallant.

 

That said, it won’t be the case now. Laviolette is a very good coach who’s had success everywhere, has won a Cup. And truthfully, it’s on this group to right it or ship out. And I’m glad that this seems to be the narrative; that it’ll be the players and not the staff.

I must have been sleeping under a rock.. Just now noticed Kreider has 9 goals and 0 assists..  Fucking 0 assists!! That almost impossible to do!!

 

Granted, his linemates aren't exactly filling it up- but Jesus.. 

 

I love Kreider and have long been an advocate that his contract is actually "good".. But if you want to upset a foundation, you need to take out one of the support beams- and that's Kreider.. It goes without saying that he's the only vet that you could make an honest to God hockey trade with.. Trouba is a sunken cost that will never pay anything close to what he's owed. Mika has a MNC- trading his soulmate might wake his ass up? This shakeup should have started July 1. 

 

For the love of god, never give the C to Laffy- or anyone young for that matter. Its a curse at this point- Just run with a bunch of A's for the next 10 years.

Wow-wow-wow-wow!! Drury finally put the crackpipe down. Can this be an early X-mas present or is it the public kink in the ass these guys have needed? I doubt you hint or state 'trade' when you aren't open to offers. (I just nabbed tix for 12/9 Blackhawks game - maybe the new look Rangers will be on the ice.)

I wonder if trading Igor is a real possibility too. I think he knows their record wouldn't be nearly as good without him, but the whole thing where he wants to be the highest paid Ranger, blah, blah, blah. Another kind of ego guy that probably rubs him the wrong way. I could see Drury saying 'fuck it' with him also.

I don't care anymore about our vets. Let the young guys play and get what you can on the market for life-long "not good enough"-Rangers.

Trading K is going to net someone good in return - this isn't a draft pick scenario. Adding Troubs into the mix may or may not hurt a deal.

 

@Mistercosmic Shesty too? That might be a bridge too far. It would be hard to explain a total B'way blow-up right now which is what this would turn into.
