Valriera Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Mika’s play is obviously severely impacted by a health issue, mental or physical or both. What would Vegas do? I know it’s cheating to get around retirement buyout but we would like him to get better, he’s just not. Soooooooo, LTIR right?

You can only use it if you're over the cap, so it really doesn't solve anything.
Phil Posted November 30 Posted November 30 No, they can't just put players on LTIR who aren't injured, and as @Pete notes, LTIR is useless unless you exceed the cap. This is dangerous practice for two reasons: 1. you are required to get back under the cap the moment that player is no longer injured, and 2. you accrue no cap space for the deadline for as long as you're using LTIR.
RichieNextel305 Posted November 30 Posted November 30 (edited) I wonder if the rumblings about the Rangers and JT Miller can be linked to Mika. Obviously, with Miller being away from the team, something is wrong. Not going to speculate what that can be as it could be several things. But, I wonder if Mika may feel a change of scenery is needed right now too. Their contracts expire around the same time. Zibanejad makes $500K more on the cap. I wonder if there’s a world where, if Miller’s issues are something where he may need to leave Vancouver and start fresh somewhere, if there could be a match there. Two guys who may just need fresh starts criss-crossing the continent Going back to 2019, Miller has a line of 139 goals, 269 and 408 points. Mika has 163 goals, 221 assists and 384 points. It’s been two productive guys who found themselves away from the teams that drafted them. They’re both 31 and may need changes again but this time for different reasons. Just saying. A match could be there. I guess something to at least keep an eye on. There is no way we would ever be able to fit Miller on this team without one of our top guys going for cap purposes. So if Staple is right about us investigating it, it’s something that could be logical. Edited November 30 by RichieNextel305
