RichieNextel305 Posted November 24 Posted November 24 (edited) I assume this means Jones is good to go. But I also still question why the hell we must suffer with the same defensive pairs that have been horrific the last few weeks or so. Berard can hopefully be a bit of a spark plug for us. We badly need one. Edited November 24 by RichieNextel305

We badly need one. He cannot, and it’s unfair to pin hopes on fixing zibanejad and the entire team’s defense on him. Hopefully he comes up and does a cuylle impression so we have more to look forward to after this season 1 1
BrooksBurner Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Hope Lavvy has the balls to scratch Mika if Fil is also ready to return. Panarin-Chytil-Lafreniere Kreider-Trocheck-Berard Cuylle-Kakko-Smith Go big. Enough. Fuck Mika. At the very least take him off PP1. 1

Good now can we stop with Rempe, when given the chance last night proved his discipline and game smarts along with all skills not tied to being his height still show they all need work. He's still the mascot and they're not doing him any good by bringing him up after only ~10ish games in the minors. We have so many holes filling the mascot position should be really low on the list. Wonder if Rudeweasel gets a game here soon, I think we've reached the throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks.

They're just not tight enough in their own zone and the goalies can't fix that although both of them try. I don't think throwing stuff against the wall is the right answer. It's a little bit too random. I think Drury and Laviolette need to have a sit down about how this team is going to be constructed moving forward and then Lavi needs to follow the plan they come up with. There are maybe a half dozen players on the team that are at the core of the problem, those being Trouba, Lindgren, Miller, Zibanejad, Kreider and Chytil (unfortunately and not due to any action on his part). You can't trade Chytil (due to lowered value) or Zibanejad so you really need to move most of the other guys on the short list or we're just stuck in neutral again.

There are so many issues right now. Just on the defensive side: Not defending at all Far too many shots Far too many chances Terrible defense vs the rush Slow, poor puck recovery and breakouts. And here’s one that is I think getting very much overlooked: GIVEAWAYS!!!!! This team turns the puck over an obscene amount. Currently 31st in the league. Only SJ has turned the puck over more. Gotta simplify and really force the issue with these guys on establishing and maintaining some structure. Thats not a total fix. But personnel issues not withstanding, it should at least stabilize things somewhat. At least you hope. Simplify. Find your structure.
Sharpshooter Posted November 27 Posted November 27 With how shit the defense has been, honestly, give Ruhwedel a few games here. He's been a rather steady defenseman his whole career. He can't be any worse than what they have now. If he is, he'll fit right in. But, give him an extended look. If not now, then it's going to be never.
Sharpshooter Posted November 27 Posted November 27 lol Yeah, he's not great, but the defense has been kind of a mess. Give someone a seat (yeah, seemingly hard for Lav to do) and give him a game. He was acquired for this reason, for depth. Also, regarding, Berard, there's absolutely no reason to sit him or send him down. That was a very encouraging first game. Another guy who may look like he's already prepared for the NHL game. 1

Yeah I think Berard should have seen his last AHL game. That kid's a high intensity player, and we need that going forward. 2
