RichieNextel305 Posted November 19 Posted November 19 (edited) Wow. Just….wow. Edited November 19 by RichieNextel305
RichieNextel305 Posted November 19 Author Posted November 19 (edited) Fall from grace. And fast. 2 years ago, best regular season team in NHL history. Last year, solid playoff placement for a team that lost its franchise pillar in Bergeron. And now, this. Shit. Marchand is on an expiring deal. If things continue to really go sideways, I wish we could figure out a way to get that jerkoff in here. Edited November 19 by RichieNextel305

Karan Posted November 20 Posted November 20 The team wide regression was expected and very apparent, but didn't think they'd can Montgomery this soon, damn.

Sharpshooter Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Apparently there was already some bad blood between the team and Swayman over the contract situation, so that hasn't helped either. It's sounded like a pretty toxic situation all around for awhile now.
RichieNextel305 Posted November 20 Author Posted November 20 Neely and Sweeney seem like impulsive fucks though here too.

That's interesting knowing he didn't get a monumental contract but I think the mantra up there has been taking team friendly deals to compete.
RichieNextel305 Posted November 21 Author Posted November 21 From what I’m reading and listen to on Twitter and from what I’m hearing from friends and family of mine who are lunatic Bruins fans, this firing is an impulse move and they are more upset with Neely being a lunatic and Sweeney than they were with Montgomery.

It's ridiculous to think that the coach was the issue when they didn't have a goalie coming out of camp, and that is by far the biggest problem with the team. Sweeney should be the next to go.
Scott Posted November 21 Posted November 21 For what it's worth and it seemed like it was out of left field. But during intermission of the vgk/leafs they were talking about how soon Montgomery would be back behind someone's bench. They said Sweeny and Montgomery being miles apart on extension talks is what caused them to pull the trigger so fast. Don't shoot the messenger boys
RichieNextel305 Posted November 21 Author Posted November 21 I remember when they canned Cassidy, the talk was about how even though his record was outstanding and they had a run to the 2019 Finals, that maybe the message was being a little lost in the locker room. And they wanted a fresh voice. Which, after 6 years, ok. Fine. People can understand. To coach in 1 place for 6 years in this league at the moment is impressive, especially a market like Boston. I disagreed completely with them firing Cassidy, but if they wanted to go with the whole “he has run his course here” line, at least then, they had a leg to stand on. Here? Now? After a topsy turvy 20 games? And after the past 2 seasons that they’ve put together? And like Pete said, after the circus that was the Swayman negotiations leaking into camp and just about into the regular season? I mean, come on. At some point, some type of good will needs to be built up. The Bruins have looked awful. I get it. But to me, this falls more on Neely and Sweeney than it does Montgomery. They lost Bergeron and Krejci last year. Bergeron, in particular, was a horrific loss for them. He was their everything. And he still righted the ship, had them in the right direction. And you lose to the eventual Champions. Move on. 20 games? 20 crappy games in Season 3 and you’re canning a man with a winning percentage of over .700 before Thanksgiving? Christ. I hope Montgomery catches on somewhere and sticks it up the Bruins ass every time his team goes against them.
Sharpshooter Posted November 21 Posted November 21 As usual, the incompetency up above gets a pass and a quality coach gets the ax, again. That first round loss to Florida after that epic season was completely devastating. I hadn't seen a team dominate that much since the '95-'96 Red Wings. They at least made it further. There's still a very good team, there, but their dominate window has probably closed. It's definitely a culture problem there with the Bruins, that has only escalated. At least with Igor's contract situation, it hasn't become a detriment to him or the team, which was something I thought may occur. They've gone about their business just fine.

Yeah, go look at McAvoy's comments yesterday. He basically says "well, I'm still a bruin, and I'm happy about it... Life goes on."
MuddyInTheMiddle Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I think that this press conference pretty much sums up the situation: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCo4eXFPrtc/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I know that it's a deep fake(but it's still funny because it's true).
