Fox and Jones 1st pair until he is back?

Would be an interesting experiment.

It would be an interesting experiment to have a defensive pair that could be physically dominated by a stiff breeze, but still have puck possession a large majority of the time.

I don't have a problem with first unit defenseman getting concussed while "honor fighting" in preseason games, do you?

Not at all. Especially because Rempe and Harpur weren't playing.

Ran outta durability in record time. Don't see any way he sheds the black cloud of being the team's rag doll. Big heart but destined to break more and more as time goes on. Not the only one it's a shame.

Love Lindgren but it’s reasons like this why you can’t give him a long term contract. As he ages, the injuries will continue to pile up. He plays the game with near reckless abandon. It’s what makes him valuable, but it’s also what is likely going to cut his career short. Guys who play this way almost never last long. And for a league where teams are counting just about every single dollar spent because of the cap, and given the Rangers situation moving forward, I just see no way this isn’t his last hurrah in a Blueshirt. I hope he can stay healthy for the majority of it. Obviously that isn’t off to a particularly promising start.

It took me a little while to understand this, Richie....but I think you're right.  I love Lindgren's "reckless abandon" and his ability to play through pain and injury.  Unfortunately when he's playing through pain, he's not playing at 100% and that can be detrimental to a team on the precipice of a Cup Finals run.

I think Lindy's given us a commendable run here and if ever there was a guy I really hope has a solid career the rest of the way, I do hope it's him.

I also don't think he'll be out as long as they say.  He's on a one-year "prove it" kinda deal, and I feel every game he misses might detract from what he'll make on his next contract.

Which just leads to another problem with him, is that he tries to be a trooper and play through it, but he's not helping the team that way. He's not good enough at 80% to only be 80% when he's on the ice.

And again, while I don’t necessarily disagree with him stepping up and going after Mayfield there given the immediate reaction to seeing Chytil of all people down on all fours, read the room guy. Mayfield has you by 4 inches. I’m not saying to be a chicken shit. But let Rempe or Harpur handle that. Because look what happened. You’re down and out again with something that’s going to leave you out of the lineup to start a contract year. Again, I’m not saying that *that* has to be your concern in the moment. It’s hockey. All of these guys do that and it should he commended. And you appreciate Lindgrens heart there, the logic just wasn’t there.

Yeah, nobody is thinking about that while they're on the ice. Too much adrenaline, and frankly this team really does care about each other and they all love Chytil.

I just hope he didn’t get his own bell rung there too hard.
