RichieNextel305
The Hurricanes took a major hit this off-season. Still a good team with a fantastic coach. But lost weapons, depth and never upgraded in net. New Jersey upgraded but they were so beaten and brutal last year. Can’t just assume that it all clicks and they go 0-60 and catch every single break. This is a team and a core with 1 good years in the last 3 or 4. And while Markstrom is better than what they’ve had, he’s not Dominik Hasek the way most Devils fans seem to think he is. I don’t know how anyone can claim the Rangers aren’t the decently sized favorites in the Metro. Best goalie, arguably best coach, arguably best depth, arguably best offense, arguably best special teams. Carolina has taken steps back this summer. Perhaps on paper, but I get the sense you could toss a bunch of scrubs into Carolina's bottom-9 and Rod will still get them to be a top team in the Conference all season so don't be too surprised to see them up there. They'll likely still crash out early in the playoffs though
