Watching the breakup day interviews, it's clear to me that there needs to be just 4 guys wearing a letter going into next season.

2 guys that demonstrate some semblance of tangible leadership qualities today.

And 2 guys that are already demonstrating future Captain qualities.

C - Trocheck

A - Kreider

A - Lafreniere

A - Schneider

The leadership group of the team is built around who the team responds to, not the fans.

Fans want to see a certain leadership style, maybe something that inspires them, but would inspires you might not inspire Lafreniere for example.

And like I said in another thread, I don't really care what these guys say to the media anymore. I won't go into the same long-winded post, but frankly these quotes don't matter much to me to be honest.

I've also been around here long enough to know that once fans have made their mind up about a player, it doesn't really matter what they say.

I'll never forget the year of the Rangers were on a losing streak going into Christmas and they won their last game before the break. Drury Said something like now their break won't be ruined, or now they can enjoy the holiday, and he got skewered. "Oh, glad Christmas wasn't ruined for you, glad that's all you worried about!" Meanwhile it was pretty obvious what he meant was that out loss would have eaten at them all week long.

I know people who went to college with Drury and universally have described him as a fierce competitor, but because he's stoic people think that vibe means he doesn't care.

For certain players on this team, nothing they could have said would have been good enough.
