QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

“Obviously, we want to get ready for the playoffs and try to create good habits. But, also, winning keeps the mood up. That’s what we want to keep doing the next two games here. Try to get ourselves ready for the playoffs.”

— Mika Zibanejad on the Rangers' mindset in these last two games

For those of you saying it's a meaningless game....likely true, but so long as there's a shot to finish second (or even, improbably, win the division) we should be taking it.

Agreed. Need 2 wins and NJ to either lose both or win one but the win can’t be in regulation.

Devils get Buffalo home tomorrow and finish up in DC against the Caps on Thursday.

So if the Rangers win out and finish at 110, either the Devils losing both gets us ahead of them at 110 to 108 (or 109 if they pick up 1 point along the way) or if we win out and NJ goes 1-1, the 1 win needs to be after regulation because we then would finish with more ROW than them. Provided we also win in regulation.

Buffalo needs to win out and have two of the three teams ahead of them not get two points in their remaining two games

Florida plays Carolina and Toronto (meaningless game for them)

Islanders play Washington and Montreal (they'll win at least one of those)

Pitt plays Chicago and Columbus (lucky them)

The math doesn't add up. Sucks because I think they're a better team/deserve a playoff spot more than those the islanders and penguins but they shot themselves in the foot early in the year and are paying for it now. Better luck next year Buffalo

Anyone else feel like this was a quick season? We're at Game 81 suddenly...at least it feels that way to me. Also, the usual rollercoaster NYR ride. 🤣

Flew by.

I almost wanna put the c squad out there tonight. Let Buffalo knock the piles out of the playoffs.

Said the same thing the other night. Feels like it was just Opening Night and Mika potted 2 goals against Tampa.

I would love to see the Isles lose tonight. If they do, and the Panthers win, Florida clinches. And then they need help from the Pens to make it.

Went by fast. Seems like just last week Gallant was aimlessly moving lines around trying to get things going. Oh wait....

Yeah, Skinner kills us!  ..only way to disarm Skinner is to sign him as a Ranger, or trade for him.  Then he'd never be heard from again!  😉

The guy had a really rough couple of years and was deemed the worst contract in the league at 9 mill per. He's climbed back to what he was expected to be, but 9 mill os still an insane amount of money for that kind of player.

He probably could have been had at 50% retention 2 or 3 years ago and it would have been a good pick up. But he was really, really struggling.

I suppose there's a rich Rangers history for that... Let's hope Kane will not be part of it....😉

After the playoff run last year, this whole regular season has felt like a formality before playoffs start. And at times, I think they players probably felt like that too.

Just no injuries in these two games. Don't care about home ice against NJ. In fact the sweep being finished in NY would be pretty cool too! Or winning in 5 in their rink would be pretty fun to remember as well.

Yeah, Dude man!  He was the prime "example" of a bad contract for a long time.  Before I came to BSBH I really never knew very much about how GM's navigate a salary cap.  All I remember is the simple "word affiliation" of:  Skinner = BAD contract

...could probably make a case for Zach Parise too....I remember him being a player a bunch pointed to for a shitty contract.

My god these LIRR train schedules from/to Forest Hills are atrocious since Grand Central opened.  1 train every hour from Penn to Forest Hills, cut it close for the 9:49.....WTF!!!!!  There use to be at least 2 trains stopping at Forest Hills......

Gotta leave my office early, go pick up my daughter at the Forest Hills train station just so I can catch the 5:49 to Penn....WTF!!!!!  There use to be 2-3 trains from 5:00 PM on that would get you to Penn in time for a pee, grab a bite to eat before faceoff....Now 1 train.

Good point about the season going by quickly. It sure did. This might have been the fastest moving regular season I can remember.

It'll be hard for Buffalo to get in, but I still expect them to play hard since they still have a shot. They aren't Columbus so I'm not too hopefully for a win. The Rangers can still catch New Jersey, but the urgency really doesn't seem to be there for it.

Got a Devils presale code for Round 1 but I cant pull the trigger to buy Game 1 tixs since its not a guarrantee that it would be NYR-NJ in Round 1.  Get in price is $200 for cheap seats....far cheaper than MSG which is about $400 at "Face Value" through Ticketmaster

Pull the trigger.  If it ends up not being NYR/NJD then I'm sure you can sell it rather easily.
