QUOTE(S) TO NOTE:

“He’s a real heart-and-soul guy who does everything for our team. It definitely hurts the team a lot to lose Ryan like that. Really isn’t another Ryan Lindgren, so it’s a big loss for us.”

— Chris Kreider on the loss of Ryan Lindgren

I'm not really worried about shipping 5 games for Kane. It's worth it, and if the team can't figure out how to make the playoffs anyway with this roster, they're not doing any damage once they get in.

That said, there's also no reason they can't just win some of these games. Taking this one would be great.

Missing this one.  I have a hockey game.  Can’t say I’m upset about missing it.  Drury might get high marks for his trades but his every day cap management sucks ass and is hurting us now.   Good thing we built a good margin between us and the 4th place metro team.

The cap management has been fine.  Loosechickens daily cap hit was $4k per day.  Kane's is $57k.  So for every 2 weeks they held on to Loosechicken they could have got Kane a day sooner, but that's 2 weeks with only 12 forwards and they'd have been just as screwed by an injury as they are right now.

Kane will play against the Flyers.  12-2 Rangers.

as others have pointed out elsewhere why not dress RL sit him at the end of the bench at the start and then have him walk off after the first? It's another game now where you lose Kane. With the way this train has jumped the tracks and they're pushing all their chips in on Kane they should get him here asap.

I think there's a difference between using ltir to skirt the rules of the cap, and dressing a player everybody knows is injured in plain sight... It's like taking out your salary cap wrench and slapping it across the face of Bettman and the NHL.

Something tells me Bettmen enjoys getting slapped across the face with wrenches.

I agree with you Pete, it would be obvious what they were doing if they dressed Lindgren but he didn't play but is it any more egregious than trading for a  guy like Shea Weber, well his contract anyway where there's 3 more years left at 7.8M knowing he'll never play another game? That kind of stuff has been going on for years. Getting slapped with a wrench for one game would seem to be such a minor offense compared to the other huge loophole shit that goes on. Would hardly think Bettman would feel this one.  Pretty sure we'll be in the same position next game too which would push the deal for Kane out again causing him to miss another game.

* wonder if they could send a guy like Schneider down Monday and Tuesday on paper to help?

Maybe but I thought the Rangers official position on Lindgren was “day to day.”  This could be a case of have him warm up, see how he feels, then don’t play him.

that being said, it would definitely not be within the spirit of the rules so they’d probably take some sort of hit if they tried it. The longer this goes on the more I doubt it’s the right move getting Kane.
