Phil
Quote There won’t be quite the pomp and circumstance as the first time, but Slap Shots has learned that a reunion between the Rangers and Jimmy Vesey is on the horizon. The 29-year-old famously signed with the Blueshirts as a Kevin Hayes-type free agent in 2016-17 after rejecting offers from both the Predators, who drafted the Harvard product 66th overall in 2012, and from the Sabres, who traded for his rights. Following stops in Buffalo, Toronto and Vancouver after leaving Manhattan, Vesey is coming off a solid season in New Jersey as a depth forward. Presumably signing a free-agent deal for around the $750,000 minimum that would not count against the cap if assigned to AHL Hartford, Vesey — who went 50-40-90 in 240 games for the Rangers his first time around — will compete for the kind of fourth-line, bottom-six role that Tyler Motte filled so well last spring, but has priced himself out of. https://nypost.com/2022/08/06/islanders-should-honor-ed-westfall-for-laying-dynasty-foundation/

torontonyr
If he's not being counted on to carry the offense I'm totally okay with this. He can step in and give you something if there are any injuries.
Sod16
I saw the caption and thought someone had managed to dig up a thread from six years ago. In 2019-20 there was a lot of talk about how much whatever passed for a fourth line at the moment was hurting us. It reached a climax when Quinn played one of the pseudo playoff games against the Canes with three lines, giving the fourth line a total of two shifts, in which they yielded two goals. It seems like we could be headed there again.

ThirtyONE
No. He was absolutely dead weight last year and if anyone says otherwise, they didn't watch the devils play. He's horrible defensively which begs the question: what would you say ya do here? 1

BrooksBurner
I’m for it tbh. Might see something different out of him getting another shot with a contender.

Keirik
Career -63. Yikes. I don’t care all that much about +/- but still. It’s not like he does anything good at all.
RodrigueGabriel
Jimmy Vesey lost his position on a team much worse than this one. I don't really understand this unless they intend him to play in Hartford.

His career should have been over after the Leafs, when Keefe basically told him you aren't skilled enough to play with top players and you don't work hard enough to play with bottom sixers, and Vesey just yessed him to death in response. 1
Pete
No issue with it if it's really league minimum...Would prefer they just get him here on a PTO and let him compete. Everyone loves the plucky guys like Motte but he can't stay healthy or sniff the net. Vesey is durable and can pot 10-12 from the 4th line/PK role. -ERIK-
seems like he played and had his best seasons with us Can't hurt much for more cheap depth
jsm7302
His plus/minus stats are rough for his entire career. Wasn't a particular fan of his but depth of NHL caliber players sure beats the alternative of what we had to fill holes last year.
RangersIn7
If he’s cheap and just a depth option, as a 12-14 forward, it’s ok. Not a great player by any means, but he is an NHL player for certain. Im alright with it.

What Keene said is the truth. Hopefully he’s had to finally accept that about himself.
