If you contain Kucherov and maybe stand him up,  as he skates straight up the middle, instesd of letting him go untouched by defenders, they have a shot at regaining momentum.

I have zero feel for who is playing good, or may break out. The kid line has fizzled a bit even before Chytil got hurt.

I'm thinking Panarin may have to man up and put this team on his back and shut some of us up.  He's certainly due and has to take that next step into life without Strome.

Rework his comfort zone and have him be selfish.  If he has to dangle through everyone, so be it. Get the guy back into the game.  The 2nd line has been pretty non contributing for weeks.  Change the dynamic. Change something about that line. But inserting Goodrow onto it isn't the answer.  Nor is Hunt. Nor is Motte.

Blais, Brodzinski, Gauthier, Reaves, Rooney could use a look there.

I'd comment on how the Rangers should have spent to the cap and stacked the roster, because of situations like this, but Drury did do a nice job getting who he got. I mean Kessel would be nice to have as your 13th forward right now instead of Hunt..  but can't really complain about how far they've come.

NHL Actuaries haven't finished their tabulations yet:

Stanley Cup City Population x Average Purchasing Power x Viewership % x Where Does Buttman Want a Quick Vacation to Hand the Cup x How Much Payoff Tendered by Teams x Does Host City Have Beaches? x Ratio of "Hot Chicks" to "Not Hot Chicks" on said Beaches x Liklihood of Chick in Hot Pants Standing Behind Cooper for Primetime Crotch Shot X Number of Hospital Beds Available When Losing Team's Fan Base Suffer Cardiac Arrest x Fuck-factor NHL has Towards NYR = Which Teams Get to Play For Cup

Math...is ....hard.

After typing this,  I'm reminded about comments Panarin has made that I think eluded to him holding back and not exactly playing the way he'd like to. If he's not injured, is the coaching staff asking him to be more careful and not take risks? I'm reaching I'm sure, because who does that? But if there's people suggesting he's NOT hurt, could this be it?

If so, maybe one of the "leaders" of this team needs to do what Messier did for Leetch and suggest to the coach that he has this elite level player who is waiting to be told to play his game (or in Leetchs case stop fucking with his head and watch him go next level).

The guy just looks fucking defeated and bummed. If he's not hurt, what other explanation is there?

The thing is, he's taking a lot of risks...Bonehead plays into traffic getting picked off...I think he's hurt and it's effecting his skating and maybe even his shooting/passing.

In the defensive zone Panarin looks like he has a grenade when the puck is on his stick.  In the offensive zone he isn’t as bad but it he looks very hesitant to shoot.  Rangers seem like they are always looking to pass when they receive the puck in the offensive zone instead of shooting right away which leads to more blocked shots and goalies being set for the shot when they finally take them.

I agree with what you say he is doing. I just don't think it's what he really wants to do.

The boneheaded plays look more like he's trying to either get the play over with by giving minimal thought to the outcome, BECAUSE  he's injured and won't go hard to the net or to the middle of the ice, BECAUSE he can't get the quality of shot he would, were he healthy.

So instead, we see even more perimeter threading the needle attempts and bad angle shots from far away.

The counter to that is that people can say he's been like this all year. To which I'd say is partially true. Only, he WOULD  have moments where he would get his breaks or take the puck to the net. It's simply non existent so far in the post season.

All I know is, Panarin is better than this and the Rangers need to find a way to get him on track. If he's injured. Make room for the guy.

You'll laugh, but maybe the key is to take the puck out of his hands and have a  north south guy, who consistently takes the puck to the net gain attention and draw defenders to kinda collapse in, leaving  room for pucks to be swept to the perimeter for uncontested shots by the guy who is strictly playing perimeter hockey.

Play 15 with him. It's gotta be better than Hunt or Goodrow, whom I really think loses his luster when he's slotted up. He seems to be at his best in an energy role and with Reaves. I'd say play Chytil with him but that kid line needs to stick together.

Go on.. shit on it... lol
