I can't believe they wouldn't let him just hit 1,000.

I actually agree. I think he'll play a thousand games, but getting a thousand straight would have been remarkable.

If they were going to do this they should have just sat him right after he broke the record. To get this close, 11 more games, and shut him down just seems spiteful.

He already played 1000 games, he's up to 1099.

....and it was a total dick move by the Flyers.

Then explain why JVR is playing?

How many other NHL teams have an assistant captain on the fourth line?  We hand out leadership letters like participation trophies.  Find a captain already, chop the assistant captains to 2 or 3, and get rid of the 10 player assistant captain rotation.

And their excuse was "an organizational decision to get a look at young guys" yet 28 year old scrub Nick Seeler is in the lineup?

Locker room dynamics is more important than anything I see.  But for the record, I'd go C-Fox, A-Panarin, Kreider, and be done with it.  I understand C for Kreider but in past years he has disappeared from too many games for my liking.

Only the Flyers. Don’t sign the dude if you don’t realize he’s going to want to play every day. Not like the organization is on the cusp of winning. I get wanting to get other guys some time so  they should have done the right thing and dress 7 d, or scratch someone else. He’s signed for only this year.

He’s earned it to just finish out the season and let the offseason decide if his streak ends. Not a shit organization.

Nah. They owe him nothing and if he was any good he'd play. He already has the record. Why pad it? I

Its definitely a shit organization and a bit not cool, but if they want to see if someone younger can show them something, whatever.  If he's upset about it release him, so he can continue this charade on his next team.

Not good? You don't play. Ask Dryden Hunt.. oh wait.. ask Juli..... forget it.

Couldn’t disagree more and it’s not even remotely the same as a Hunt or Gauthier or anything so I’m not sure why that’s being brought up. It’s a  15+ year NHL veteran. The Flyers signed him knowing his streak would be broken during the season and he’s been nothing but a pro. There was zero reason to scratch him so they could play a 23 year old rookie. They aren’t going to bring him back next year so you do the right thing as a professional organization and honor the commitment to the game Yandle has and let him decide on his own terms.  All you had to do was dress 7 d if you wanted extra looks for prospects.  He earned that right.
