This is part of a larger story being covered here on the potential for Marc-Andre Fleury to return to Vegas:

But buried in that story is this interesting tidbit:

First, Fleury is not alone on a list of potential targets. Per sources, the Golden Knights have also expressed interest in New York Rangers backup Alexandar Georgiev, who we previously reported let it be known that Georgiev feels he’s ready for a bigger opportunity elsewhere. There are likely others.

Would make the most sense.

Yeah. That's a "where there's smoke" thing if ever there was one. Vegas needs a backup and to shed salary. Rangers need a scoring RW. I'd guess we add a sweetener but this feels like something that could be done.

Id send Georgiev to Vegas for a couple of weekend vouchers at a casino and some box seats to watch a game while there. Maybe a gift card to a steakhouse too.....

I don't. I actually think you can do that deal one-for-one. They're the ones sweetening by giving up the better player.

GM Kelly McCrimmon on a potential Marc-Andre Fleury reunion: “There is absolutely no credence to that rumor at all. I wouldn’t normally speak (officially) on such things, but there will be so much racket about this, it’s important to let people know that’s not going to happen.”

Rangers aren't gonna trade Georgiev in season.

Not without getting a reliable starting calibre insurance policy back.

Could probably trade for a guy like Craig Andersson or Thomas Greiss, for next to nothing. I wouldn't be opposed to Fluery if it can be done cheaply. I dont think we'll have a hard time bringing in a pending UFA goalie if we need to.  I also would be ok if Kinkaid ends up needing to be the backup if something can't get done

Could see what you're saying up until the last point, Kinkaid is a significant downgrade. There's no reason to do that.

well its why I I'd certainly prefer the other options. Like I said, I don't think we'll have a hard time bringing in any of those options I mentioned (I'd prefer Anderson the most) but in some absolutely doomsday scenario where the team with $35 mil in cap space and picks/spare parts to move can't find a cheap, pending FA backup goalie, I don't think it's the end of the world. He'll barely play. We don't win a cup if Igor gets hurt, regardless of what goalie we can bring in.

Nick Foles would disagree with that mentality......

Which is basically what Georgiev is... so, yeah. I don't see the point.

They'll trade him in the offseason, but they need him as insurance to close out the season and into the playoffs.

I think we're all in on Georgiev for the rest of the way this season too, 31.  There are other bigger holes to fill, and I hope and assume they will take precedence over back up goaltender.

I hope he can be good enough for it. Im not sold but I do agree that we need that top 6 RW spot filled more than anything. Im even okay with our D Corp. 3rd line center can be Goodrow.

Brendan Gallagher would be my target.

Big contract, getting old.
