Two key updates in this: Improved Search Bar UI and Scheduled topics (the ability to write a thread and schedule it to post at a specified time). From what I've read, it looks like there's a number of "live" aspects that they're beta testing, including an active "user is typing" feature that will let you know when you are replying to a topic, who else is doing the same.
