Seriously though, strange things happen under the pressure of playing for a championship. Some guys rise to the occasion & some crumble and fail. Sounds like some hockey players I know.

You're consistent! It's so obvious to me. I go back to the Yankees from the 80s where they similarly built a team that hit but never worked. In 85 I was 10, @Ozzywas 35. We have seen this movie many times over. Then we struck gold in the second half of the 90s when we had a hungry manager that has been through it all and a bunch of hungry gamers and warriors with something to prove or wanting to establish a legacy. We have none of that now. We have guys that swing for glory and contracts. We have guys wanting to play for I rather than WE. It sells. Now it appears Boone is going to be back. Why? Why are any of them back? it's crazy. The Yankees aren't a team. They are a business. It's Tesla in stirrups (or whatever they are called now). 1 1
Bieser Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Way too many mental errors to not eventually blame the manager. I'm done with Boone. Little things start to add up. Rizzo's defense was obviously compromised. Handing the ball to a guy who hadn't pitched in a month in game one. The batting order. Baserunning. Weaver throwing to first. Not major mistakes but there's just too many little ones.

Sharpshooter Posted November 1 Posted November 1 The front office is so incompetent that even if Boone does get fired (and he should), I do not trust them at all to find a decent enough replacement. Maybe they just give the job to Ausmus? I don't know, but with Boone's idiocy on full display this series, for the world to see, there's definitely more rumblings coming from everywhere to let him go. I've wanted him gone for years. I don't care if the players like him, sometimes that's a bad thing. The Yankees as a franchise have gotten too complacent and too full of themselves. They are a parody of what they once were. They have good players, but it's been a cultural problem with this team for years.
