4EverRangerFrank Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Sprint race today. Has this season come down to NOR v. VER? LEC might have something to say IF upgrades work. Only one FP to find out.
Karan Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I think Ferrari will definitely play spoiler over the next few races, but their car seems to be highly track dependent so it'll depend on the circuit characteristics. They look good this weekend though. The big question will be if Red Bull's upgrades have swung the tide back in their favor. Looking good for Max thus far. A win here and a poor result for Norris might just put the championship out of reach...
4EverRangerFrank Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Ferrari-Ferrari 1-2! The race was essentially won in that first corner. Holy smoke that was great. Very happy to see the upgrades work as planned, still, they have much work to do for the races ahead. Yes, track-dependent success but all teams grapple with that. Going to be a fun finish to the season.
Cash or Czech Posted October 28 Posted October 28 FIA finally had the balls to penalize Max after that BS non-penalty last week handing him 3rd.
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Brazil was a bit surprising to me. VER P17 to P1 in the wet? His final 10 lap times were consistently impressive and I have to acknowledge the skill. NOR is quickly becoming hated? LOL He does say some Interesting things post-race. Was his ‘just being lucky’ comment taken out of context? I didn’t hear it live or completely. Ferrari showed pace and promise Friday. Race day? I was hoping to see more.
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 4 Posted November 4 HAM driving Senna’s car was cool. He was seriously awed and humbled by the experience. #respect
Morphinity 2.0 Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Every wet race is another feather in the cap of my brilliant idea of having a random 5-10 lap "watering" of the track in every race. Rain introduces so much entertaining chaos, but also really showcases driver skill. Every single race should have a wet section.
Karan Posted November 4 Posted November 4 That was an absolute Verstappen by masterclass. He sliced through the field with ease, seemed to manage his inters the best and those 17 straight fastest laps was insane. Meanwhile, Perez was floundering trying to pass backmarkers in the same car. What a flop...how does this guy still have a job!? And no surprise, Norris bottles yet another start and race from pole position I think his comments in the post-race were a poor choice of wording and maybe slightly taken out of context. But at any rate, he just comes across as "woe is me" rather than just taking responsibility. Let's just say if it were Hamilton or Alonso with the fastest car on the grid like he has, I'm pretty sure this championship would be coming down to the wire in Abu Dhabi. And yeah watching Hamilton in Senna's McLaren was an incredible sight and definitely brought back some memories, especially when he pulled over to grab the Brazilian flag and hearing Senna's victory theme playing over the PA system...chills.
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Random thought - I guess the scuttlebutt surrounding Horner has passed. He’s survived it for now. Do you see a management change in the off-season? The added pressure of an up and down car (literally) and the fading championship prospects - until Brazil win - has me thinking that change may be afoot.
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Masterful rain driving by VER Interlagos has seen plenty of dramatic title deciders in the past, and this year’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix will surely prove to be the definitive day of this 2024 season as well, even if Max Verstappen can’t be officially crowned just yet. His performance on Sunday was simply spectacular, and worthy of sealing any title. It’s a sign of how brilliant the Red Bull and Verstappen partnership is, that even though he lined up way down in P17 on the grid and Lando Norris lined up on pole, you just never could rule Max out of doing something exceptional in mixed conditions. He’s a driver that has had so many epic performances in the wet, but this may well go down as his best race yet.
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I forgot about the late fall break between Brazil and Las Vegas. Ugh. Well, only have 2 more races to go. I'm hoping to see McLaren do whatever is needed to push the driver's championship outcome to the penultimate race in Abu Dabi. Are we witnessing the end of Botas' career? Reserve driver for MB next season? I mean, I guess. It keeps him in a better position to rejoin the F1 ranks if an emergency opening arises but this might be the last hooray. I've enjoyed his F1 career despite the nude calendar. LOL

I think with his masterclass in Brazil, Verstappen's pushed the gap too far barring a catastrophic DNF. Yeah I think Bottas career is all but over, but you never know, Hulkenberg managed to sneak into the sport at 37, so if Bottas hangs around, he might be able to get a couple stand-in stints here and there, and if he impresses enough, he could earn a seat again.
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 11 Posted November 11 (edited) How did I mess-up and not see the schedule? 11/24 Las Vegas 12/1 Qatar (+ Sprint) 12/8 Abu Dahbi Edited November 11 by 4EverRangerFrank
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 22 Posted November 22 WTF is up with these times? What time is the race? 10? Eastern? Why so late?
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 24 Posted November 24 (edited) P5 and VER becomes 4X World Champion. Red Bull had to work for it this year. Max has matured and in combination with the car’s prowess earlier this season, he can feel good about himself. RUS said post-race that he was just “waiting for something to happen” to end his P1 finish ahead of HAM and SAI. Good on him - I like RUS and with a good car under him he has skills to be a WC too. LEC had a great start diving the inside corner to go from P5 to P2 before the second turn! I thought it was looking good for a Ferrari 1-2 but LEC fell off the pace. SAI was quicker the whole way. My driver of the day was HAM. P10 to P2 is a great drive especially following that horrendous pit stop where MB didn’t have tires ready for him. 7 different drivers won this year. Makes for a good season, no? Edited November 24 by 4EverRangerFrank
Karan Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Yeah overall, Verstappen has turned into an even more rounded and far more effective driver after this season. I feel like he's only just entering his prime now. Sky's the limit for this guy now. I don't think any record is untouchable for him. Hamilton was definitely driver of the day, what a drive. He definitely took advantage of some slick strategy and the colder temperatures to manage those tires well. Leclerc chewed up his drivers way too quickly and I often feel like his race management isn't as effective as Sainz's. Still, I'm hoping Ferrari can score some big points in the last two races and pull out the Constructors Championship after McLaren basically started celebrating it prematurely. Fuck Zak Brown 1
4EverRangerFrank Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Formula 1 announced today that it has reached an agreement in principle with General Motors (GM) to support bringing GM/Cadillac as the 11th team to the Formula 1 grid in 2026. Formula 1 has maintained a dialogue with General Motors, and its partners at TWG Global, regarding the viability of an entry following the commercial assessment and decision made by Formula 1 in January 2024. GM to join F1 in 2026 Hmmm… What does this mean for Andretti effort, factory in England and all the investment? Or is this just ‘that’ under the GM branding?
4EverRangerFrank Posted Monday at 01:59 AM Posted Monday at 01:59 AM Constructor’s Championship lives for another day. Ferrari need a huge haul while McL need a fall-out. P1 VER P2 LEC P3 PIA WTF was up with leaving that mirror on the main straight? Dumb! FIA can be quite dumb. Debris caught HAM and SAI with flats after BOT ran over the mirror obliterating it.
Karan Posted Monday at 04:41 PM Posted Monday at 04:41 PM New race director and it definitely showed with a calamity of illogical decisions from Race Control, not to mention some of the penalties applied. Hell of a start and first lap by Verstappen though. He decided he was going to get his P1 back by Turn 1 no matter what and Russell got schooled. Don't poke the bear kids. 1
