Kevin
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward to a two-year, $6.75 million contract. The deal will see Dzingel, scored 26 goals and posted 56 points in 78 regular season games with the Ottawa Senators and the Columbus Blue Jackets this past season, make $3.25 million next season and $3.5 million in 2020-21. "Ryan has proven that he can be an impact player offensively, putting up bigger numbers over each of his three full-time NHL seasons," Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said in a team release. "His speed, skill and vision make him an excellent fit for our forward group and our style of play. At 27, he's just entering his prime and certainly had options coming off a 26-goal season, so we're happy he's chosen to be a part of the Carolina Hurricanes." https://www.tsn.ca/carolina-hurricanes-sign-f-dzingel-to-two-year-deal-1.1336380 -- Seems like a great deal for Carolina. Phil
They needed another top-six forward. With Ferland gone, this is a pretty low-risk buy for a guy with some upside. The term being only two years is really good, in case he flames out like he did in Columbus.
Future
Boy did I not realize he's scored 20 goals twice. Good signing.
Gravesy
Smart deal for both parties. Canes get a good player with low risk, and Dzingel gets a show me deal on decent money that takes him to UFA at 29. It’s not unthinkable that he’ll be able to build some value for himself playing on a good team for 2 years.
NYR2711
He is a good player that doesn't get much talked about him. He has always been one of those guys that can burn you, and he has been tough to play against in the past. Good signing by Carolina.
