josh
Do people think Lindy Ruff is designing our coverage or something crazy like that? He's an assistant coach, he's there to be there. Even more reason to get rid of him
jamsim67
Even more reason to get rid of him What assistant coach would have made this defense better? Ruff worked with practically nothing. Fine, replace him and bring in someone else to work with practically nothing.
josh
A sock puppet couldn’t do worse than Ruff. Ruff is a detriment in this new, Fast, skilled NHL.

However, the players who suited up were a detriment in this new, fast, skilled NHL. We knew it was going to be a long year, a different assistant coach wasn't going to make this team better. Let's look to draft, and free agency and hopefully watch this team get better. No matter who the assistant coaches are.
Scott
Isn't that why we moved away from AV and went with a more defensive system? They let in more goals this season. Yep worked out great. When the pieces are crap the system doesn't matter.
josh
This roster isn’t crap... Skjei, Smith, Shattenkirk, Pionk. This is what the fans asked for!

So glad they locked down Skjei long term right after a shit season. He followed that up with an encore of another shit season.
4EverRangerFrank
So glad they locked down Skjei long term right after a shit season. He followed that up with an encore of another shit season. At least he's consistent.
Dunny
I started on the Skjeiky D train with Josh, but his last 30 games were just fine.
josh
I started on the Skjeiky D train with Josh, but his last 30 games were just fine. He did pick up his game as the season went on. By seasons end he was close to pre-season form. He needs to be better, still. Among that crowd, he should be standing out as the best dman. Fatfrancesa
Phil Housley is unemployed. Anyone like him for replacing ruff?
Phil
4. David Quinn on Sunday said that his staff would remain intact. I’m not big on calling for people to lose their jobs, but honestly, it escapes me what Lindy Ruff has done in his two years as an assistant coach responsible for the defense and penalty killing to merit another crack at it. https://nypost.com/2019/04/08/rangers-should-brace-themselves-for-draft-lotterys-fickle-ways/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons
LONG LONG LONG TIME FAN
And the Ruff saga continues to ramble on. Yup. He's the main reason why the NYR d-men don't hit very often, rarely clear the front of the net, continue to make blind passes, incessantly poke, sweep and stick check, turn the puck over, etc. Yup. It's all on Lindy's shoulders.
Dunny
How does Larry Brooks think that Lindy Ruff has any say in what system David Quinn, the head coach, wants to run? This is a "hockey guy" that doesn't understand how hockey teams work. They literally just switched from AV's ridiculous man on man garbage to Quinn's more basic approach. Is that on Lindy? Furthermore, what would you expect to get out of that roster?

Dunny
I'm not advocating for him, he's a figurehead. He's there for feels, but to pretend it's Lindy Ruff's fault that they can't play D is pretty funny. I'm pretty sure that's on Neal Pionk and Kevin Shattenkirk et al. josh
If he's only a figure head, then that's exactly when its "Time for the Rangers to Move On from Lindy Ruff "
Dunny
To find an AC you'll get tangible results from? Good luck with that.
Mr.wiskers
Rangers Announce Coaching Staff Additions David Oliver and Greg Brown named Assistant Coaches, join Lindy Ruff on David Quinn's coaching staff by New York Rangers @NYRangers / NYRangers.com July 17th, 2018 Brown, 50, joins the Rangers organization after spending the past 14 seasons as a member of the coaching staff at Boston College (2004-05 - 2017-18), including the last six seasons as the team's Associate Head Coach (2012-13 - 2017-18). In his role at Boston College, Brown was responsible for overseeing the team's defensemen, and he also worked with the team's special teams units. During his tenure at the school, Boston College won the NCAA National Championship three times (2007-08, 2009-10, and 2011-12). Brown coached several current and former Rangers during his tenure at Boston College, including players such as Chris Kreider and Kevin Hayes. In addition, he assisted in the development of several defensemen who currently play in the NHL, including Brian Dumoulin, Noah Hanifin, Mike Matheson, Ian McCoshen, and Steven Santini. During the 2017-18 season, Boston College ranked fourth in Hockey East in goals against per game (2.68) and led Hockey East in shorthanded goals (seven). Reading this article from NYRangers.com from last year, we can see that Greg Brown whom we hired has experience as an associate coach, coaching defense and special teams. So if the defense sucked what was Greg Brown doing to help Ruff? Or should we blame both? Or was Ruff only here to help with the transition and is the plan for Brown to do more of the coaching this coming year with Ruff taking a back seat.
