P/GP player who improved away from Kane walking into UFA as, arguably, the premiere get? Yup. I agree.

I'd happily go 10x7, 11x7, or even 12x7 for him.

Fucking right I would.

I won't accept anything less than a Panarin-Zibanejad-Kravtsov first line on opening night next season.

Tied for 6th in the league in points since he entered the league...and it's a pass?

He will be 28 next season?

I?m just concerned about age and length of contract. Anything past 10 million IMO is the Crosby?s, Ovechkins, McDavids, etc.

We?d be paying that for his decline. And hopefully in 3-4 years we have our own players we have to sign and i don?t want a declining contract in the way of it.

Well, with the rising of the cap, $10m is the new $8m.

I agree with the concern, but with how the league is now, you can still be really, really good at 34. And, if the young players hit, assuming they can keep everyone, they won't be asking a guy who is 32-33 to carry the team. Put him in a role like Marleau, and you could see the same type of results.

7 year deal would be age 28-34 for Panarin. That's his prime years, especially considering he didn't start playing in the NHL until age 24 and has hundreds less games of NHL wear and tear on his body.

Prime years are technically 22-27

The decline statistically starts after that

He may have not started in the nhl until 24, but that doesn?t matter with the exception of injuries.

10 isn't the new 8. Flawed thinking with lockout looming.

There's almost no number I wouldn't give him. $12M x 7? Bring it on.

Am I missing something ? Is "Artemi Panarin" Russian for Conor McDavid ???

This guy is 27 years old.....he averaged about 1 point per game the last 2 years.....and he scored 27 and 31 goals those 2 years. This year he is on target for...wait for it.....20 goals. STOP THE PRESSES !!! :o

He's also under 6' and under 175 pounds. +/- on wrong side in playoffs.

He seems like a nice player. I'm not saying he might not be a worthy addition to the NYR, especially as a FA. But I don't see where he's a game-changer and I don't see how he is a major leg up from CK.

Once again, only five players have scored more points than him since he's been in the league.

Maybe...I dunno....maybe my brain is still locked in the days when the Elite got 2 points or more per game and you weren't in the conversation unless you had 100-120 points or so.

I just don't see this guy being a game-changer in NY like McDavid in Edmonton or Crosby in Pitt. So I'm wondering if he is worth that type of contract.

Without the salary cap, I could care less.

Well, it would be kinda like the rangers the last 3 years - a norwegian leading the team in points
