Respecttheblue Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Yeah, this should end soon. I'm a little hesitant to say five, given it's Washington, and I think Vegas will push back for one more game, but by six, this feels like it's over. Just glad to see the extra tenacious efforts Washington is making being rewarded. Sent from my iPhone using Blueshirts Brotherhood mobile app powered by Tapatalk
fletch Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 nine more minutes of getting to the red line then getting the puck deep, forcing vegas to go the length of the ice
fletch Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 when vegas was playing well they were playing with so much speed that the opposition didn’t have any time, resulting in bad plays and turnovers. have not been the same squad this series
Karan Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 WAS style has really neutralized VGK very effectively. This WAS team is definitely built for the playoffs especially when you combine that with the heart & grit they are showing. Just a terrible matchup for VGK. They would've done way better against TBL. Shame for the neutral viewership as this has been a horrible SCF in terms of entertainment value. Bring on the fucking off-season and the draft.
Sod16 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 wow Neal. that was Ranger-esque That will probably be remembered as the moment the bubble burst for Vegas.

They definitely would have matched up better with TB. TB is less physical than WAS, and Vegas are a little soft.
Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 "Perfect" ending to the season, would've been ridiculous if Vegas won. Vegas got their fairytale start to the franchise, but didnt achieve the ultimate goal right away (which in the long run probably is good for them) and Caps(Ovi) will get their first ever Stanley Cup. Oooh Im looking forward to watching the brilliant great8 without any dickheads yelling "no cups". *Biggest jinx ever if Vegas comes back from this*
H-Dreamer Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Knowing those types of people, they will just yell "just one fluke cup" or "how many cups does Crosby have?" instead.
Vodka Drunkenski Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Vegas played really well for the first 10 minutes, if they scored on their chances, I think they win the game. But bounces and posts that didn?t go their way, says the Caps are destined to win.

I don't think they're any worse of a matchup than WPG was. This series doesn't look that different than WPG, except for the fact that WPG made one bonehead turnover after the other. VGK still can't go 200 feet and score without some kind of egregious miscue.
phillyb Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 WAS is just so determined and focused. I'd still love to watch them collapse so the fairy tale can be completed, but idk...doesn't look like it's going to happen at all.

Yeah. Also, the Capitals are getting production all over the lineup and their top guys are on a rampage, whereas the top 2 lines for Vegas are completely cold. It was the opposite against WPG.
Giacomin Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Who deserves the Smythe if the Caps win? I go with unpopular choice. Kuz gets it over Ovi, so far. Ovi has been GREAT, but Kuz has been just WOW. He's had a huge impact on so many goals and scoring chances. Beautiful hockey throughout the playoffs. He's statuesque, yet moves so gracefully (if you know what I mean), while creating all kinds of chances. He's been unstoppable. This may be another reason they win the Cup. There are two superstars playing a complete game now. Add their depth (rested unlike Winnipeg after a war with the Preds) and experience (again unlike Winnipeg) and bam! The clock strikes midnight and the guys who spent years working up to this moment finally deliver.
Albatrosss Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Holtby. no way. i'd go with Kuz too i'd give Wilson a nod for totally disrupting VGK and getting in their heads
fletch Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Kuznetsov has a slight edge in points, but Ovechkin has set the tone with his scoring/physical play/shot blocks, so Ovechkin is still the MVP for me. 1A and 1B for me, whichever way you go.
Gravesy Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Agree fletch, it's a tough call. Kuznetsov has been lights out, and his scoring speaks for itself. Ovi has been the leader though. He's set the tone, is second in the playoff for hits and is putting his body on the line every shift. And clearly the team feed off him. I think Ovi will get it based on sentimental value, and it won't be a bad choice. Unless Kuznetsov puts up another 3 or 4 point game to decide it in game 5 and force their hands.

Ovi's physical play and his emotional effort/leadership has been stellar. He is their leader and has delivered in that role. So hats off to Ovi, if they win. He should be the first to carry the Cup. Yet, for MVP, Kuz has been such an integral part of so much of the Caps scoring including tons of important goals. He's been involved in about 40% of all their goals, over 23 games, accumulating 31 points. When you look at many of the goals and examine who made the key play or the difficult play, Kuz is the man. Every time he rushes the puck (hell every time it's on his stick) you can't turn away from the screen because he is going to create something. And he's not just making plays but finishing, including 2 GWG and an OTG. He also leads all players on all teams in +/-. Most importantly, he is a consistent threat to create the most dangerous chances. He keeps the opposition on defense with his possession game and is beating defenders, even when they are positioned well. He has often been the reason Ovi ends up being open. Without Kuz, Caps probably don't beat Columbus and certainly don't get past the Pens.
Giacomin Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Ovechkin will definitely get it Sure, he's the sentimental hollywood choice. He's been great. But who's been greater, who would you give it to?
