I know $8M for a 38 year old just coming off an injury looks bad, maybe something in the $6M range would seem more reasonable. But he's only one year removed from an 82 point season. You wouldn't pay $8M for a PPG player?

Yes and no. If you're not up against the cap, then it really makes no difference.

 

The question is - what else were you going to do with that $8m if you didn't re-sign him? Sign a couple of third-liners? Might as well give it to him.
