NYR2711
No trilogies allowed. I'll start: T2: Judgement Day. Wouldn't T2 be considered part of a trilogy though? Im also going with Ghostbuster 2 or Ace Ventura 2, both are extremely underrated movies.
Phil
No. It wasn't designed to be a three-part story. They just kept making them. Same with Toy Story and others. They're "franchised". Fast and Furious, Toy Story, Harry Potter, Bond films, etc.

Captain Clutch
There are a lot of franchises that I'm not sure if they ere intended to be trilogies or count as trilogies. Star wars started out as such but now has 7 films, in that case is it a franchise? Then Empire Strikes Back is an amazing sequel. Nolans Batman movies were never intended to be a trilogy but became one otherwise The Dark Knight is one of the best sequels ever. To be safe I'll just go with Prisoner of Azkaban
Phil
Star Wars was designed to be successive sequels that they've added to with a third trilogy. 4,5,6 and 1,2,3 were the intended story, in that order, as two trilogy sets.
Pete
Making Empire the intended 5th movie, therefore eligible.
Phil
Empire is episode five. Part of the original trilogy. Making it ineligible.
Pete
Empire is episode five. Part of the original trilogy. Making it ineligible. By your rule, it was designed to be 6. Not 3. They then added a third trilogy. Either way, Empire wasn't designed as the second story.
H-Dreamer
Harry Potter isn't really a Franchise, it's a continuous story that happens to have more than 3 parts.
