Phil
If I'm not having an italian sub I like to go for a Cuban sammich. Sophie's Cuban Cuisine in Manhattan make a mean Cuban. They also do variations of it, with roast pork and chicken.

Jules
Can I order all of the above? My favorite contains at least one sharp type of cheese, bacon, and some mayonnaise.

Jules
Does everyone go to local deli's, make it yourself or any chains you like? A "Jersey Mike's" opened nearby and I dropped in and their sandwich was lovely. Even the sandwich bar at my local Wegman's is terrific. I just don't understand how people can eat Quiznos and such. Maybe locations are hit or miss, but the one here is awful.
Phil
Deli's usually. I'll make some sandwiches on my own, but generally I'm far too lazy to want to get all the ingredients just for one or two sandwiches, so I'd rather pay the $10 and be done with it. I'll eat it on a regular hero too, but on a garlic bread hero it's just amazing.

I am Scags
I'm sure there are zillion and one kosher delis in the NY area that you could get a good hot pastrami, but here in NJ my favorite so far has still been Foster Village Kosher Deli in Bergenfield on Washington Ave.

NYRangers92
If I'm ordering a sandwich it would be roast beef, buffalo mozzarella, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, horseradish mayo, on whatever bread as long as it isnt rye. Cold. The sandwich I make at home that I really like is turkey, avocado, goat cheese, tomato, and a bell pepper ring on whatever bread I have.
