Phil
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/seal-team-six-the-raid-on-osama-bin-laden/ This was such a kick ass reenactment put on by NatGeo. Fantastic cast, including Freddy Rodr?guez, Xzibit, William Fichtner, Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Mo Gallini (24), Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie), etc. The blend of real-life footage and reenactment scenes shot specifically for the film give it a really great blend, and give the reenactment scenes a much more realistic feel, especially with the use of so much POV cams. History buffs, political junkies, action junkies, etc. will all, IMO, find this quite entertaining. Check your local listings for re-airings, as I'd imagine NatGeo will be running this a number of times in the coming weeks, despite the GOP's insistance that the release of this was designed to influence the elections (as if it's such a horrible tactic, even if it was, anyway). http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57544880/amid-controversy-film-on-bin-laden-death-airs/ Actors are used and the docudrama uses original footage and reenactments to tell the story of the SEAL Team Six members' preparation and implementation of the raid on the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, where Osama bin Laden was found and killed. As it's not a straight documentary, artistic license is used to tell a compelling story.
josh
They have Xzibit playing me??? come on! Still looks good. I bet armed forces come on and degrade the movie for summarizing this entire mission into a 2-hour docudrama. Anyone watch it last night?
Phil
They have Xzibit playing me??? come on! Still looks good. I bet armed forces come on and degrade the movie for summarizing this entire mission into a 2-hour docudrama. Anyone watch it last night? I don't see why they would. I'm watching it a second time today, and I can tell you just in my experience with it, they put a tremendous amount of focus on the time frame involved with everything leading up to the raid. The crux of the story is the drama surrounding the actual SEAL team soldiers preparing, interviewing, talking to their families, etc.

Karan
Seven SEALs from bin Laden team are punished for sharing military secrets with creators of video game Medal of Honor Seven members of the secretive Navy SEAL Team 6, including one involved in the mission to get Osama bin Laden, have been punished for disclosing classified information, senior Navy officials said Thursday Four other SEALs are under investigation for similar alleged violations, one official said. They allegedly divulged classified information to the creator of the video game 'Medal of Honor: Warfighter.' Each of the seven received a punitive letter of reprimand- which generally prevents individuals from being promoted- and a partial forfeiture of pay for two months. The deputy commander of Naval Special Warfare Command, Rear Admiral Garry Bonelli, issued a statement acknowledging that nonjudicial punishments had been handed out for misconduct, but he did not offer any details. 'We do not tolerate deviations from the policies that govern who we are and what we do as sailors in the United States Navy,' Bonelli said. He alluded to the importance of honoring nondisclosure agreements that SEALs sign. He said the punishments this week 'send a clear message throughout our force that we are and will be held to a high standard of accountability.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2230296/Seven-Navy-SEALs-Team-6-punished-giving-confidential-information-creators-video-game-Medal-Honor.html
