I hate Mbappe.guys like him and Richardlason, et Al are so bad for the game with their nonsense diving.

I though Mbappe wanted to leave to be “the man?” I guess there he is? But that’s not exactly a leap of where you throw a team on your back and prove it’s you.

He wants [only] money and fame. Real Madrid gives you both.

I love that so much. Toffees endured such a difficult season. It would've been meme-worthy to see them in the Championship, but I'm glad they stayed up. Would've financially ruined them if they were relegated and didn't get back up after one season. None of their players had salary clauses for relegation and parachute payments only do so much.

The closest thing American sports have is college sports. The passion and investment of the team and the fans as one school provides tons of passion. Still pales in comparison to this.

This is why European football is better than all American sports 😉

A few things:

1. The situation was unusual in that Everton was facing relegation, there is no equivalent in American sports.  The closest analogy I could come up with was if the Boston Red Sox were facing relegation to Triple A, but even this falls short.

2. In US professional sports have largely eliminated pitch invasions except for the lone invader, who is tackled and escorted off by security.  College sports continue to allow.  In UK there has been rising alarm due to pitch invasions, including attacks on players and managers.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10838035/Premier-League-sets-plans-tackle-spate-pitch-invasions.html

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/61518907

'As the fan who headbutted Sharp has discovered, the repercussions of such behaviour can be severe. He has been jailed for 24 weeks, fined and given a 10-year football banning order.'

3. The initial pitch invasion occurred after Everton scored the third goal.  At best this caused a delay in the game.  If Crystal Palace felt threatened, they could have went to their locker room until match officials decided whether the match could safely continue.

Yeah I know all that. I wasn't just referring to the pitch invasion. I agree that it could be very dangerous.

I was more aiming at the intense passion and love one have for a club. Do you think you would ever see a fanbase in the US celebrate like that for finishing 16th out of 20? The way the systems are built in US it's based on money, and money only. The worst a team could do is finish last and have a good shot at a generational talent. In Football you can get relegated, you can qualify for European Cups etc.

Another example, from a team that one the 2nd most "important" European Cup: https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=540918254365012

Here's my local club Lillestrøm (a city with ~80k pop.) supports at a training session the day before our local derby - https://youtu.be/RWP1yyeYsf0?t=175
And here's a video of one of the games - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS0cgcd_IA8

I love US sports for the sport, but the supporter culture in Europe is just different.

Really feel for Burnley, was rooting for them to stay up and Leeds to go down. Man City making the comeback to win over AV 3-2 is absolutely bonkers way to win the league this year. Really fun final weekend for the Premier League, love to see it.

That was insane. Down 0-2 after 75 minutes, up 3-2 after 82 minutes lol.

Thank God tho, I don't think I would survive L'pool fans celebrating the treble/quadruple this season...

This came out of left field. 22 year old attacking mid. Will absolutely help our depth as we re-enter Europe. Was a rumor 12 hours ago, now we have the Romano tap in HERE WE GO!

Solid signing for Arsenal. «Under the radar» signing of a young talented player that should be good enough to challenge for a spot right away.

There’s been a lot of good players coming from the portuguese league lately (Nunez, Bruno, Jota, Diaz, Fabio Silva, Rapinha, Ruben Diaz)

Nunez is gonna be a beast for Liverpool, I wanted him bad at Arsenal. And it looks like he'll be replacing this guy:

I guess Lewandowski to Barcelona is a real possibility now?

Arsenal sign Jesus, Chelsea about to sign Sterling, rumored to be going after Ronaldo. Man City get Halaand and Phillips. Liverpool get Nunez, Spurs get Bissouma and Perisic. United get…a left back?

United are being incredibly smart. They aren’t competing right now. It would make zero sense for them to make a splash for someone when they are a good 3 years away.

Neh, this is not US sports where you get benefits from sucking. Even if they think they can win next season or are 3 years away, they NEED to upgrade that roster. It was bad before and now they've lost Pogba, Lingard and a couple others + it looks like Ronaldo is not returning.

They need to start building a new culture and mindset in that club, it's been rotten since Fergie left. If they want to do that they need to give Ten Haag something to work with, they can't go another season with players like Maguire, Wan Bisakka, Shaw, McTominay, Rashford being regulars.

I spoke to soon anyway, looks like United is about to steal Lisandro Martinez out from under Arsenal's nose. Plus United is working on Frenkie De Jong from Barca, but FDJ doesn't want to leave and is owed something like 17mil euro in deferred wages that Barca want him to forego. Eagerly grabbing the popcorn for that scenario. Also completely agree with Zuc, a team like United even if they are retooling need to do something if they are losing Pogba, potentially Ronaldo, and have no goalscoring threat or strong midfield.

In other sad news, a North London premier league player has been arrested on suspicion of rape. The alleged player has been narrowed down to Thomas Partey, who hasn't travelled with Arsenal to Germany and has gone radio silent on social media.

If the allegations are true, I hope the victim gets her legal justice and Partey faces the proper consequences. If it's not true, I hope Partey can move past this and get back to being a contributing member. Either way, it does not look to be resolved anytime soon. Just look at the Mason Greenwood and Gylfi Siggurdsson cases.

EDIT: apparently he posted about today's game. Who the fuck knows what's going on.
