Cars: Appreciation, Salivation, Hopes and Dreams

    Found this pic online.

So I'm grabbing in front of the fuse box and to the right (and down deep) from the air filter?

Yup, the wiring should come out of the fusebox area. The plastic shielding on it is just a protective cover(armorflex). While the armorflex is great for stopping things outside of it rubbing on the wires, it can actually cause chafing problems for the wiring inside. This is just one section of the wiring harness so if nothing happens all you know is that specific section is probably ok. Kind of just a shot in the dark based on that forum post.

So...I never figured out the issue with my electrical but it never happened again. I was still uneasy about trusting the car. After having another friend check things out and coming up with nothing I started thinking about my car (09') and when I may be ready to look for something new. I quickly yet thoroughly researched what I was interested in and checked out the specials and rebates and decided to hit up a few dealers. After only about a week I came to the conclusion it was time for an upgrade so I just purchased a new vehicle. Ended up with another Mazda6. Traded in my 09' for a 17' touring trim. Got a great deal as two dealerships were extremely interested in my 09' which (other than the electrical glitch) was in superb shape. After a back and forth battle between to two, I signed yesterday.

This is my first "new" car purchase. (my wife got a new Rogue after kid 1 and then a new CX9 after kid 2). My prior two, Mazda6 09' and Mustang 06' were both used vehicles. Prior to that all hand me downs from my dad.

Thanks. I figured after so many years with no issues on my last car that as time marched on the chances of a legit problem arising was steadily increasing.

Congrats. It's a good feeling ain't it? Knowing it's not someone elses past car. All yours.

    Thanks.

Yeah, my two used cars had only 15k each on them when I bought them, but new is nicer.

Sure beats a mini van. Although with just 2 kids a sedan works just fine.

Welp, my car got totaled last week. Rear-ended so hard I smashed the car in front of me too and the body damage was so bad that the insurance company called it a total loss.

Been wanting to get a Subaru, but since I'm trying to save I'm looking at an 08-09 Legacy sedan. Anybody driven one?
