Rangers Draft [C] Steven Fogarty With 3rd Round (72nd) Pick

    Name: Steven Fogarty
    Position: Forward
    Shoots: Right
Current Team: University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish (CCHA)

    Hockey's Future Profile:
    http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/steven_fogarty/
Fogarty has good offensive skills and a big body, which he uses well along the boards and in front of the net. A decent skater, he will need to improve his stride to move to the next level, but he is solid two-way forward, with decent hands.

Primary assist for Fogarty in the win over Michigan tonight. Points have been few and far between for him this season.

Haven't heard much from him since his draft year. A lot of folks were chalking him up as a potential steal in the third round, no?

Puckhead loved the pick. I haven't heard squat about him since we drafted him.

Glad he has three more seasons after this one to continue to develop. This season's numbers haven't looked too pretty after dominating the BCHL.

I think he scored a goal yesterday. His BCHL stats were inflated due to playing on a loaded team. He had 81 points in 60 games and was 7th in scoring on the team... go figure

I think he was a good pick in the 3rd round. It's a crapshoot anyway

Fogarty with a Notre Dame's lone goal tonight. Maybe he's coming around.

Oh did he ever score. Here's the video.

This was going to be a huge adjustment for Fogarty from the very start, and he knew that. He went from being a key player on a heavily offensive team to being a role player playing against guys 2-3 years older than he is in a defensive league. He'll be at Notre Dame AT LEAST through junior year. He's a project for sure but has plenty of raw talent and could be a good one.

    He's grown since draft day.
Now listed at 6"3", and up to 204lbs

I still think dropping back to the BCHL from the USHL was the dumbest thing he could have done.
He is a project aka Kreider.

    High risk high reward.

Fogarty with another assist today in a 2-1 Notre Dame win in part one of the Hockey City Classic, which is taking place outdoors at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Brady Skjei and Minnesota are currently taking on Wisconsin in part two.

Fogarty named captain of Notre Dame.

    http://www.und.com/sports/m-hockey/s...090314aab.html

"Over the last year, Steven has made huge strides in all aspects of his game both on and off the ice," says Jackson, now in his 10th season behind the Irish bench.

"He's a solid citizen who does a good job in the classroom and is a focused young man. Of course, he has a family history of natural leadership capabilities with his father (a retired admiral) and his brother being in the Navy. I really respect Steven as a young man and that's one of the most important attributes of being a captain."

Glad for him... though his chances of making the big league are probably super slim. Last chance to really prove himself this year

My hopes for him at this point is a tough-to-play-against, cheap fourth liner.

Wasn't he originally a creative, offensive prospect? If he doesn't explode on the scoresheet, I don't think he gets a contract after his college career. Then again, that's what you get drafting kids out of high school. Very boom or bust, worth the risk.

At the time they were drafted, he and Miller weren't THAT far off, IIRC. Miller has (slowly) progressed. Fogarty, not so much.

Was concerning to me when he jumped from USHL to BCHL

    Big step backwards
