Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage Join Cast of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

A few weeks ago, director Bryan Singer confirmed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellanwould be returning to the X-Men series in the next installment, Days of Future Past, which features a time travel plotline guaranteed to make the franchise?s already-tangled continuity totally not confusing whatsoever. ? and given that Jackman has a full-fledged Wolverine solo movie in 2013, it?s easy money that he?ll just have a supporting role in Days of Future Past. (My Theory: He?ll pop up in a post-apocalyptic future, which will actually be the present, and he?ll be around just long enough for something like this to happen.)

If you?re interested, Singer has been tweeting various Future Past-related updates, including a location-scouting trip of Washington, D.C., with screenwriter Simon Kinberg and a meeting with his production designer. Based on those tweets, we can confirm that the movie involves mountains and Abraham Lincoln.

This has the potential to blow all the prior X-films out of the water. Days of Future past is far and away one of the strongest, and most important story lines Chris Claremont ever wrote.

Here's to hoping for strong castings for Bischop and Cable, the latter of whom is my second favorite Marvel character of all-time behind Deadpool.

Peter Dinklage signs up for X-Men film

Director Bryan Singer tweeted: "Officially like to welcome PeterDinklage from GameOfThrones to XMEN DaysofFuturePast. Very very excited!"

 

Singer is returning to direct the next film, having previously stepped aside to co-write and produce.

 

Matthew Vaughan, who directed the last X-Men, is co-writing the new film.

If you were balls deep in X-Men comics like I was as a kid, you may recognize this promo-poster for the movie. Only time I've ever looked forward to Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

I'm really curious as to who they're going to have him play. The DOFP story doesn't have any dwarves or "little people" in it, so my guess is that they may give him a role born for the movie itself.

Rumor is he may be "Puck". Took me a min to remember who that character was.

His role still isn't known--some are guessing the Alpha Flight hero Puck, because that guy is also under five feet and wears a Van Dyke pretty well

The newly launched Trask-Industries.com puts a friendly face on the Sentinels, the mutant-hunting robots that will factor heavily into 2014?s X-Men: Days of Future Past. The site touts the work of the fictional company and founder Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), the creator of the robots, and also reveals detail about the Days of Future Past timeline.

Peter Dinklage as a villain is theater watch for me lol

I went to see The Wolverine this past weekend. The after credit ending teases this movie.

Yep. The best part of the movie was that ghost credit IMO. I'm very excited for days of futures past. Great comic book and the movie has so much potential.

Movie looks sick.

Sucks that I don't remember that storyline at all. Wonder if there's a GN I can read.

I liked this trailer more than Thor and Captain America trailers

I always thought that the days of future past storyline was what they should have started with in the movies, since you would simultaneously introduce established characters alongside their origins.

I just wish the cast from the original/dark Phoenix saga weren't involved. With the exception of dr. Xavier, Magneto ad wolverine, it was an awful cast and I'm concerned about Brian Singer doing this.

The trailer does look good though and I'm willing to give it some rope. The storyline is going to be a hard one to live up to though, as that's probably X-Men at it's best.
