Right now very little infrastructure up here, a few shared service contracts with existing carriers.

I flew a group of Verizon engineers up last month out of Seattle....hopefully they start the process.

Just as a question for anyone who might know anything about Civil Service jobs.

#1: I have been out of work for close to 10 months right now.
#2: I have a civil service (Account Clerk/Clerk Typist) interview Thursday. This is at a small school, Keshequa Central School, Nunda, NY
#3: I had an interview with BOCES up here for an account clerk position and had the position only to have it pulled before my start because of the delay in state budgets going out.

Now for my questions...Is there anything I should know about going into the interview considering it will be very similar to the one I had at BOCES? Anyone have any advice for me considering a lot of my experience is not on specific paperwork and all, yet more so in sales and customer service. I typically do a real good job of answering the questions, but at this point in my life I was really looking for a career where I had job security and could grow my family so this one is important to me. I have nice black dress pants, a pink dress shirt, black and grey tie, sports jacket, and nice dress shoes, don't know the company off the top of my head. Thank you anyone who has any insight or advice for me.

Sorry I never saw this until now but I'll fill you guys in. I've been so busy with a whole bunch of personal and professional projects, now things are settling down so I hope I can go back to sharing my stupid opinions with you folks.

I started a new job at a major advertising agency 8 weeks ago. Working in search engine, and social media marketing which is incredibly interesting and totally different than what I was doing at JP Morgan. At the present moment I run social media campaigns for Pizza hut, and paid search campaigns for Oracle. One thing that I've realized is just how important Excel is in the business world. At JPM I worked in Excel all day doing very basic and menial tasks. I thought I was pretty good at Excel until I started working in search. My God I've learned more about Excel in a week then I knew in my whole life. Fully support the idea that Excel should be a semester long college course.

Plus I'm making 3 times the salary I was making at JPM which is incredibly awesome, really front loading and kick starting my 401K.

If anyone wants to promote stuff on Facebook or Twitter feel free to ask me any questions as I know all the ins and outs now.

Everyone should order a pizza hut pizza from one of my social ads and book a trip to Oracle Open World through the 1st result on Google in the yellow box and make my engagement and conversion numbers look good.

Good for you man, that sounds like a really great upgrade. Can I ask the additional advanced functions you're using Excel for?

I have a fourth interview with a company, second in person, on Monday. The process has been about a three weeks now. Getting excited and anxious at the same time.

At JPM I was using Pivot tables and that was about all. Now I'm using vlookup, pivots, sumif, sumifs, concatenation, etc. Pretty much if you can name it I've used it in the last week.

Thanks! Now that I'm really starting to get good with it I'm enjoying it. I made a report for Orcale the other day using Data Validation, and a slew of various formulas and it actually was a lot of fun to build and watch everything work together seamlessly.

Thanks. Excel and Access was a mandatory class up at school but its much easier when you're doing it every day with purpose. I feel like I still have a lot of useful functions to learn about Excel.
